Indonesian paper maker company

Yeah maybe - the thing is it looked like a gonna put this in regardless - but not sure which way to go on this stuff - many times we get the fly by once indonesian eds who drop something and we never see them again - the persistence of this one is interesting - paid placement? Thanks

Speedy deletion of page in progress

I'd like to know your reasons for the speedy deletion of an entry under construction on the user page of Vanvance. He tells me he had entered content and was in the process of editing the entry when it was deleted without discussion. This was a project that he was doing for a class project at the University of Kansas in which student editors are creating Wikipedia entries relevant to the topics of pseudoscience, pseudohistory, and pseudoarchaeology. You can read more about the assignment on my own talk page. Why was an entry in progress on a user page deleted without any discussion? Hoopes (talk) 16:35, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It wasn't in his userspace, it was in the mainspace as \Jacob Glass. The / was the wrong way round. It was also empty apart from an image link to an image that doesn't exist. Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. --Stephen 21:59, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Taïkan Jyoji

Hi Stephen, the page "Taïkan Jyoji" i wrote has been deleted. I would like to contest this deletion because this was just the traduction of the french wikipage which, this one, was accepted by the french wikipedia. Furthermore, the informations on this page are usefull to anyone is interested in zen information, practice or history so it has a true encyclopedic goal and use. Mr Jyoji is also considered as a writer, and many books of him has been edited. We can also see him as a pionneer of the zen practice in Europe. We can easily find an encyclopedic and informative contribution in this article. The French wikipedia did it. Please reconsider the article.

Thank you —Preceding unsigned comment added by Colinmanoha (talkcontribs) 14:20, 6 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for fixing If I See You in My Dreams, but could you do the same for the talk page? —Farix (t | c) 02:06, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done, must have missed the checkbox. --Stephen 02:12, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My RFA

I knew after the first two opposes this was a doomed to failure as my flunking dug an early grave, but I've considered this again and again and wanted to know what my weak points on the project were. I hoped my experiance in the prject would net a few supports, but my IAR knowledge did me in. I closed the RFA, it was a classic WP:SNOW but now I know what my weak points are. –BuickCenturyDriver 04:40, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Eyeless (band)

Hello, I noticed the discography was missing some information, so I helped and contributed some information. After adding the track listing to their page, to my surprise, I saw a notice that claims you deleted their whole band page. Is this not "Wikipedia Vandalism?" I feel really bad because it is obvious many people had put much work into their page. Please write back. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by RobVanWinkle (talkcontribs) 02:38, 10 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Have a look at WP:BAND to give you some idea about what we require for a band's achievements to be considered for inclusion. --Stephen 02:51, 10 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Abuse of speedy deletion

Please do not abuse speedy deletion by using it to delete articles with reliable sourcing, as you did on Today sponge. Please use WP:AfD for articles with sourcing. Jokestress (talk) 07:53, 10 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

Please restore the article on Paul Tierney. It included substantial referencing that established notability without a shadow of a doubt. If you want to dispute that someone covered in long articles and numerous book sources isn't notable please take it to AfD. I don't think it's useful to say "Paul Tierney is a very notable..." but if you think that's helpful go for it. Certainly there is plenty of room for expansion. SDO Network

Hi Stephen, The SDO Network page has been deleted. Please can you let me know if I can create it under this username with the same text? It is not advertising and the network is part of the NHS Confederation which has its page on wikipedia. Care to explain...

your misuse of rollback? [1] Goodvac (talk) 05:27, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"being discussed at AfD" is not a reason to decline speedy deletion. Articles nominated for deletion at AfD are often speedily deleted. There's no need to continue with the discussion when a CSD applies. See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dion Albanese for an example. {{db-web}} clearly applies here because there is no assertion of notability. Being on YouTube and Facebook with a "small fan-following" is not remotely notable. Goodvac (talk) 05:40, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I chose not to bypass the deletion discussion. --Stephen 05:46, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Why should a page that violates Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion remain in existence longer than it should? Since it meets CSD, speedily deleting it would be uncontroversial and save us the hassle of AfD. Goodvac (talk) 06:17, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Speedy deletions can be removed at any time without discussion. An AfD allows the creator a reasonable amount of time to produce the required references. The world will not end if it takes 7 days to delete the article. --Stephen 09:58, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't mind that you rolled back my talkback message here (since I myself frequently remove them), but I'd like to point out that per WP:ROLLBACK, you should only use it in cases of obvious vandalism. The case above you could've manually removed the tag and used an edit summary; likewise with your removal of my tb. Strange Passerby (talkcontribs) 12:57, 16 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I saw you A7'ed this article. I can't speak to its state at the time of deletion, but the band is quite notable (releases on Siltbreeze & Woodsist, considerable media coverage); could you please restore it? Chubbles (talk) 21:38, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I noticed that you recently deleted a page on a band known as Sudden Suspensio., I think that the band is of some importance because I have seen some media coverage on them recently as well as heard many good things. Also I would quite appreciate it if you could restore the page as the fact that I was not done editing it, and it was my first page so give me a chance to atleast finish it please. -Austen 3:35pm Tuesday November 16th —Preceding unsigned comment added by Austen04 (talkcontribs) 21:35, 16 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why Did You Delete my Account and My Pages?? I've worked with other Admins on this!

Why did you delete my account and my created pages? I've worked very diligently with other Wikipedia admins to ensure the content of my pages is consistent with Wikipedia guidelines, and now all that work has been deleted...I work for a variety of companies who want to utilize Wikipedia to give content about their company, and NOT USE IT AS A MARKETING RESOURCE. I've worked with admins to make sure this is the case, but now everything has been deleted. I've put considerable time and effort into creating these pages and working with others to make sure they are correct and now all that work is gone.

I'm fine with updating the pages to be more fitting of the guidelines if you believe I need to. Just please reestablish my account and help me be a continuing contributor to the community. This is part of my job, and losing these pages is very detrimental, especially since others have previously approved them. Jmlnarik01 (talk) 21:01, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Stephen - Can you give me a chance to reestablish these pages? I was modeling these pages after various other company based Wikipedia pages, and would like to have them back up. Like I previously noted, this is part of my job, and I really need to have these pages established for the companies I work with I can make any updates that are necessary, just let me know. Jmlnarik01 (talk) 00:52, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I may restore them to your userspace to work on. Have you read the guidelines at WP:ORG regarding what we require for a company article? If you are being paid then you have a serious conflict of interest, which is going to prevent you from writing in a neutral fashion. Do you wish to disclose more fully what your exact role is regarding these companies? --Stephen 04:22, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi Stephen - I've read through the guidelines, thanks for providing them for me. I work with a variety of companies to further establish their online presence. My goal is to further validate the reputability of each company by listing them in a variety of sources, with my top sources being Wikipedia. I've let them know that I need to write from a neutral point of view due to Wikipedia's standards of conduct, and that is 100% fine by them. I just want to provide historical and educational information about each company without "selling" anything. I'm not a real sales-y kind of guy, so it's not a problem for me :) Can you restore my userspace so I can clean these articles up? I would be happy to have you review before I publish. Jmlnarik01 (talk) 19:49, 29 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've restored your two articles to User:Jmlnarik01/Rhino Rack and User:Jmlnarik01/Trainer's Choice --Stephen 01:49, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • Thank you very much Stephen. I really appreciate it. I'll work on cleaning them up this month Jmlnarik01 (talk) 18:06, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
      • Stephen - Can you also restore my Hosa Technology page? I saw that this is also one that you deleted. Thanks!

Hi Stephen. please delete this yet again and salt it.

Idiots and rascals

You recently deleted 3 Rascals. It was recreated with the unwieldy title 3 rascals prefix:Wikipedia:Deletion review, and I have moved it to 3 rascals, whence it redirects to 3 Idiots; there is now a cited sentence there about the forthcoming remake. I note that the proper title, with a capital 'R' is salted, so this is just a heads-up in case you want to do anything about any of this!
I hope there are no further remakes in the pipeline but will keep an eye out for 3 scoundrels, 3 knobheads etc. pablo 12:14, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Move it to 3 Rascals, thanks. --Stephen 23:52, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Quick question: why has this article not been speedied? I thought that albums by artists that don't have a Wikipedia article were automatically candidates for speedy deletion? -- roleplayer 12:41, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It had already been speedied and then restored by another admin (who I think had added the album cover.) Not wanting to get into a wheel war this should be sent to AfD. --Stephen 21:59, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Accordingly afd'd. -- roleplayer 00:54, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You would be well aware of this discussion --Stephen 00:33, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Stephen seems you didn't bother to read the dates. That particular discussion was in March and I was told to post the article again when I provide a notable link quoting the script. Earlier this November I found a link and posted it and discussion weren't even started and you just deleted it even though I put a hold on notice. Now please restore the article if you failed to research properly. That's kind of misuse of power. Thank youmini4me 23:26, 26 November 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mini4me (talkcontribs)

Could you put the link right here? Goodvac (talk) 23:29, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Neuron Games, Inc. Deleted? Why?

Greetings Stephen,

We are writing in regards to deletion of the article "Neuron Games" and its redirect "Neuron Entertainment". We reviewed the CSD A7 statute, but still do not understand the reasoning of it's deletion. One of the only things missing on the page was a logo in the company info box which is in the request process. Neuron Games is an S-Corporation and has been in business for more than a decade now. Please let us know what we need to do in order to restore this article. Thank you.

We also reviewed this article, and feel that this situation most certainly applies. wikipedia's CSD_A7_survey

Sincerely,
Neuron Games, Inc.

The article "does not indicate why its subject is important or significant." Have a look at WP:ORG about what we expect about an article about a company. --Stephen 09:55, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

We did, before we posted the article even. We are not sure how or why we indicate we are notable. People can use Google and clearly see we are. Here is a small list of why we are notable. Some of this will be added to the article.

  1. Live interview with Neuron Games from Intel (time condensed)
  2. Intel recently spent a great deal of money for a promotional white paper for Neuron found here The Brains Behind the Games (PDF for print, takes a little time to download)
  1. Neuron Games has been on the front page of the Biz section of the Gazette Telegraph (2 additional pages)
  2. Neuron Games has been on the front page of the "Wall Street" section of the Rocky Mountain News
  3. We have been in the Associated press numerous times with articles in other publication and newspapers (Denver Post, Chicago Sun, London Tribune....others we never saw)
  4. Neuron Games has been Interviewed on numerous podcasts and television such as KKTV, News 13 in Colorado and ran a nation wide commercial for "Filbert Fledgling" in 2003
  5. Neuron has also been in countless game review sites and development sites.
  6. The Super Cortex engine we have developed is the core technology in several on going game development projects both for the PC and Microsoft Xbox 360.

I can go on and on. So I don't see that we are not notable. The article is a work in progress and needs to be fleshed out if it is not ready for public viewing than how can we work on it if you delete it? Please restore this article for us.

Thank You Stephen :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Randy of Neuron (talkcontribs) 23:57, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

MetaPirate article deletion

It says that you deleted the article about the hacker alias MetaPirate because of "CSD A7" (An article about a real person, individual animal(s), organization (e.g. band, club, company, etc., except schools), or web content that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant). Perhaps you're unfamiliar with the shut down of LimeWire by the RIAA ? If you are, then perhaps you're unfamiliar with the recent launch of LimeWire Pirate Edition ? Because if you were, you'd realize that MetaPirate has had the RIAA throwing a complete kanipshit over the entire situation. Hiding behind 7 proxies, his identity is a complete mystery to the authorities trying to hunt him down, as he is being accused of violating a court order against LimeWire. And he's doing all of this so that he can supply the music downloading community with a better version of LimeWire Pro that is 100% completely free of charge, ads, spyware, and malware. It took the RIAA 4 years and millions of dollars to shut down LimeWire, and in two weeks he has it up and running even better than it was before. In the hacking and pirating community, he is iconic, not irrelevant, as you claim with your CSD A7. In my opinion, if a talentless idiot like Justin Bieber can get a lengthly Wikipedia write-up, MetaPirate's achievements should surely be recognized. I truly hope that you reconsider. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.186.95.177 (talk) 10:09, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

So someone, with the help of others, cracks some software and puts in on the web for download? You must have a different meaning of 'iconic' than I do. At best this should be a section in the LimeWire article. And regarding Bieber, WP:OTHERCRAPEXISTS is never a valid argument against deletion. --Stephen 22:28, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bar Fiasco Deletion

Please note, Bar Fiasco, the researchers' bar at the European University Institute does, in fact, exist. Its legal status, however, is debatable, since it is situated on the premises of an International Organization, the European University Institute [2], which is founded on an international convention [3]. We would like to recreate our page on Bar Fiasco - in fact, when it was tagged for speedy deletion, we began supplementing the references with a number of additional sources, and are in the process of adding to them further. Unfortunately, some of the information in the article is based on individual testimonies which are unavailable online.

Our intention in writing (in the original version of the article) "it does not exist" was a slightly tongue-in-cheek reference to its disputed legal status. We are happy to clarify that in a future version of the article. --EUILampoonEUILampoon 12:27, 24 November 2010 (GMT +1)

Note that I first nominated it because it was a large, unreferenced article that said in the intro (ambiguously though) it didn't exist. I noted this on the talk page, and I've since discovered that it does exist, although with the author's above post a Conflict of Interest comes into question. julianmh (talk) 23:53, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'd say notability of a bar in a university is the bigger issue. The references are blogs and a Facebook page. --Stephen 00:44, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

His removal is an acknowledgement that he has read the comments. He's chosen not to engage in discussion, so if the disruptive behaviour continues a short block would be in order, I believe. --Stephen 04:48, 2 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Another Hasty Deletion by Stephen

Please restore the article on A. Shahid Stover. You indicated that the subject was "eligible" but the article doesn't "indicate the importance or significance of the subject". Based on your history, this looks like another one of your hasty deletions, stop being so damn trigger happy man. Have you read Stover's book? Probably not, or else you wouldn't even question his "importance". The beauty of wikipedia is that it doesn't just regurgitate information which is already endorsed by the academic establishment, on wikipedia you can read about writers/intellectuals on the rise(like Stover)who are in the process of making a huge impact on our current socio-political discourse.
