License tagging for Image:TANFL Logo.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:TANFL Logo.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --OrphanBot 11:06, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image without license

Unspecified source/license for Image:BPayneHobart1966GF.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:BPayneHobart1966GF.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Cooee

Do NOT add Cooee to state league history. Cooee's final season of existence was in the NWFU in it's final season. It then MERGED with the Burnie Tigers to form the Burnie Hawks, and it was that merged entity that joined the State League in 1987. Please recheck your facts because they contradict the Burnie Advocate newspaper and the NWFU ladder in 1986 - which finished after the grand final as;

  • ULVERSTONE
  • WYNYARD
  • LATROBE
  • PENGUIN
  • SMITHTON
  • East Devonport
  • Burnie Tigers
  • Cooee
  • Devonport

And please don't leave messages for other users on the article pages. They go on the talk pages. Thank you. AFL-Cool (talk) 13:33, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

August 2008

Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Tasmanian Football League, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. -- Chuq (talk) 00:59, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Template doesn't specifically refer to any problem as such. If it could be demonstrated where the problem is, I could rectify it. I thought it was AFL_Cool just being small minded and doing that because I called him out on his lack of knowledge on another page. Thanks Chuq! PS: Is that you from Austadiums? Forfuxake (talk) 04:10, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To answer your question - the whole article needs to be fortified with citations. A number of statements (too many to mention 100 percent) look very much like WP:OR. Some may well be true but it needs sources otherwise it can be removed. Just as a start - and I'm not saying these points are untrue but they still need sources;
    • You need to cite where it says that the TANFL met in 1944 for a 1945 return and the "fact" that they went district instead of club.
    • Clarence and New Norfolk's origins (the SEDFL did not exist before WW2 incidentally).
    • The merger of New Town and Glenorchy.
    • The claim that the succeeding period was the strongest era in the league's history (that reads like an opinion which is not allowed).
    • The Winfield sponsorship.
And that's just the District Football part. There are issues with the rest as well, but I'm just giving you an idea of what you need to do. This isn't about small mindedness. This is about WP policy. This could be a candidate for good article status if you could just cite stuff. Just remember what I said about primary sources, okay? AFL-Cool (talk) 09:13, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Youngtownoval.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Youngtownoval.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Aaroncrick(Tassie Boy talk) 05:53, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Winfield_Cup_logo.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Chris G Bot (talk) 00:18, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, it's amusingly clever, but it could be a problem later on.

I strongly recommend you file a request at WP:Changing usernames for something that is less likely to make you look like a vandal. (Don't get me wrong - you haven't misbehaved. But sneaky vandals like to use this sort of name, to be obnoxious.) DS (talk) 13:55, 21 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Wrest Point TSL Logo.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Wrest Point TSL Logo.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. Uploaded images

Hi, Forfuxake. I notice that several images you've uploaded have been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files. The reason is that you have given misleading or incorrect information about the images on their file description pages. For example, consider File:TSFL LOGO MONO.JPG. On the image description page, you claim, "I (Forfuxake) created this work entirely by myself," and say that you have released the image under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license. However, at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files/2010 March 27#File:TSFL LOGO MONO.JPG you say that this logo was forwarded to you by a representative of the Mercury Newspaper. So you did not create this work entirely by yourself, and you have not provided any evidence that the copyright holder of this image (whoever that is) has actually agreed to release the image under a Creative Commons license. This is a big problem. If you are not the artist who originally drew the logo, then you are not the creator, nor are you the copyright holder, and so you cannot decide that the image should be released under a Creative Commons license. What you need to do is to correct the information on the file description page so that it is actually true, and then contact the copyright holder and ask for the logo to be released under a free license (see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for more details). Unless we can secure such permission, the image will be considered non-free here on Wikipedia and is likely to be deleted (unless it can be shown to meet our strict non-free content policy). Let me know if you need help or have any questions. —Bkell (talk) 22:08, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tasmanian football question

Hi mate. Loving the work you're doing with the TFL, the season articles look great. Perhaps you could help me out here, do you know if the Shane Williams who is listed as the Sandy Bay coach in your 1989 TFL Statewide League season article is this guy? Cheers. Jevansen (talk) 07:59, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Gday Jev! Thanks for the kudos mate. Yes that's the same bloke, he ended up being an around-the-grounds commentator for ABC Radio in the old Statewide League after he got the bullet from the Bay in 1990. I also think he might've had something to do with coaching juniors down this way as well somewhere. Last I heard of him, he was doing live crosses at Bellerive a few years back on the same station during Devils VFL matches.Forfuxake (talk) 15:42, 17 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for getting back to me. I'll update Shane's page. Keep up the good work. Jevansen (talk) 06:39, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello-

As part of the Wikipedia:Disambiguation pages with links project, I have edited a number of pages that you have created which all featured large numbers of ambiguous links to Attendance. Since it appeared that all the links were for the dictionary definition, and the closest applicable page on Wikipedia I could find was List of sports attendance figures, I elected to de-link all of them. It looks like you are very active in creating pages related to the Tasmanian Football League, many of which feature these links. I'm not sure where I'm going with this- I guess I'm concerned that this could turn into some weird edit war. Anyway, from my perspective, I'd prefer that the links not exist, but I don't know if it's all part of some larger plan I'm not aware of. Let me know what you think- I don't have a problem de-linking all of them en masse, but I didn't want you to think that I was crazily laying siege to a whole pile of your pages either. I'm enjoying your contributions

I'm enjoying your contributions.

Have you noticed that the for and against totals in the ladders fail to balance, that what you get when you copy straight out the The Mercury. Purrum (talk) 04:19, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
G'day Purrum! Cheers for that. Which years would be the ones not matching up? I'll go back through the results and add them myself if they don't stack up. The Muckery can be a bit ropey at times like that and also some of the print is that small that I may have made a mistake writing it down. Forfuxake (talk) 18:40, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

1970, 1972, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1984, 1986, 1987,1990,1999 1995 the win and losses don't add up. Purrum (talk) 11:47, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for that, are you talking about the points "For" versus points "Against" or actual wins and losses mate? I'm a bit confused.
As an example in 1970:
Sandy Bay had wins in Rounds 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 & 20 (15 wins)
Clarence had wins in Rounds 1, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 19 & drew 16 (13 wins, 1 draw)
Norfik' had wins in Rounds 1, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 14, 16, 18, 20 & drew 3 & 19 (11 wins, 2 draws)
Nth Hobart had wins in Rounds 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 15, 20 & drew 18 & 19 (11 wins, 2 draws)
Glenorchy had wins in Rounds 6, 12, 13 & drew 3 & 16 (3 wins, 2 draws)
Hobart had wins in Rounds 2, 7, 17 & drew 18 (3 wins, 1 draw)

1999 was a huge kerfuffle due to the Southern Cats being wound up by their executives after seven rounds. They stripped the Cats of all points and awarded points to all teams that had play them up to that point, then awarded points to the teams who were having a bye from there-after, created by the Cats going under.
If you're talking about the scores not adding up I'll go back and re-add them again to make sure they balance out.
Generally some of the publications do have some discrepancies between the Mercury and the League publications (eg: 1977 Glenorchy were always listed in league publications as kicking 3.14 (32) in the Grand Final, but the Mercury had 5.14 (44) with five goal scorers listed).
Former TFL historian Alf Upton always claimed the lowest crowd at a match was 531 in 1979, but I've come across lower in the 1940's, I'll keep my eye out anyway. Thanks for letting me know!! Forfuxake (talk) 15:09, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was talking about the for and against for those years listed except 1995
In 1995 the wins column add up to 97 and the losses 99, there was one draw , I should have been clearer Purrum (talk) 02:43, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

1965 TANFL grand final

Hey dude. As per the others on your talk page, thoroughly enjoying looking through old Tasmanian footy results. Just wanted to alert you to the 1965 TANFL Grand Final - the Robins have an impossible half-time score listed (they go from 4.1 at QT, to 2.12 at HT, to 5.8 at 3QT). Aspirex (talk) 11:20, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ahh yes, thanks for that dude! I've fixed that now. Must've been half asleep when I typed that (more than likely was).
Glad you like the articles, terrific job on the '67 State Final article too - excellent stuff!
— thanks. Aspirex (talk) 06:57, 21 October 2010 (UTC) Will start doing a few more pages in the next couple of months, business has been hectic over the past three months or so and haven't had time to research much. Forfuxake (talk) 21:17, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Questions

What are the clash jumpers in the TSL? Seeing that Glenorchy, Devonport , Laudervale and North Launceston have clashing jumpers, what is the away strip?

When did North Launceston revert back to North Launceston from the Northern Bombers ? Purrum (talk) 23:54, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Purrum!
Glenorchy wear a bottle green and white (think Port Power) uniform when playing in Devonport, the green is like a Peppermint Crisp wrapper colour.
Lauderdale wear the Geelong strip (their former colours until they entered the SFL Premier League a few years ago) when they play North Launceston away.
North Launceston wear a grey/off white uniform with a "Northern Bombers" logo on the chest and black numbers away to Lauderdale.
As for Devonport, I can't say I've ever seen them wear a clash strip, I don't think they've played Glenorchy away in the two years the comp's been running.
North Launceston's actual nickname is "Northern Bombers" and that's just what they were referred to as by the media and the club themselves after they ditched the North Launceston Robins moniker after 1997, until they joined the TSL.
Curiously, the senior and reserve grade teams are called North Launceston, but their Under-19's team is known simply as "Northern Bombers".
Strange - but it is Tasmania after all!! Forfuxake (talk) 05:29, 21 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit at Southern Football League

An interesting piece of news about Triabunna, but it needs a source and I have tagged it accordingly. Footy Freak7 (talk) 23:31, 13 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tasmanian Football League

Had to revert your changes from TFL to TSL, because that causes confusion with soccer and it's also using the commercial name instead of the proper name. Also, I haven't tagged it yet, but could you cite where you got those updated crowd figures that you edited? Footy Freak7 (talk) 04:29, 3 January 2011 (UTC) G'day FF7!, Sorry, the SFL crowd edit was me checking how to do something and I wiped out a number with my spacebar and typed the wrong one in LOL. Since reverted.[reply]
