Roy Klopfenstein (born November 20, 1960)[1] is is an American politician who is serving as the state representative for the 82nd District of the Ohio House of Representatives since 2023. The 82nd District consists of counties of Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert, and a portion of Defiance.[2] Klopfenstein is running for reelection in 2024.

Biography

Roy was born and raised in Haviland, Ohio. Roy graduated from Wayne Trace High School; He then attended Purdue University where he got a degree in Agriculture. Roy is a self-employed farmer for over 40 years.[3]

Roy is a former state committee member of the USDA Farm Service Agency, Roy is currently a member of the Ohio Soybean Association, Ohio Corn and Wheat Growers Association and Ohio Farm Bureau. He was also a former chairman of the Pauling County Extension Advisory Committee and The Ohio State University State Extension Advisory Committee.[4]

In 1982, Roy married Deborah and have 4 sons.[3]

Ohio House of Representatives

In 2022, Roy ran for the the 82nd District, he won the primaries against Ted Penner, Roy won 4,745 votes against Penner's 1,966. Roy then won the general election against his opponent, Magdalene Markward.[5]

Roy was sworn in on January 1, 2023.

Roy is running for reelection, he won the primaries unopposed.
