Sam and Colby: The Paranormal is a Supernatural Reality TV show created by Sam Golbach and Colby Brock, produced since 2021 by Zach Bell. The show revolves around Sam and Colby as two ghost adventures venturing into the scariest and most haunted places on Earth. The show released on YouTube in 2014 and has since then garnered over 1 million views and 12 million followers. The show became successful enough to garner four spin-offs and create the Sam and Colby franchise.[1] [2] Even leading to their third halloween special landing in Cinemas[3]
Premise.
[edit]Sam Golbach and Colby Brock investigate reportedly haunted locations that have received news and events of the Paranormal. To discover what the legend of the place is, the team interviews people who have received these paranormal experiences, tell the history of the place and investigate with paranormal tools like the K2, an EMF meter or the Estes Method. After exploring the building and all it has to offer, the team details the ways of procceding with their execution and how they will approach what they have around them. The execution leads to the team screaming in terror at what they discover and try to piece together the story from what they find. After investigating, the audio and evidence collected will be summarized to the viewer and will lead to the final section, Estes Method. In which someone must sit on a chair,put headphones that have blasting noises from what is meant to be a mix of multiple radio stations that will collect the correlated words to form the right answer to a question using sound waves and the results will lead to the team discovering that whoever they have been hearing/speaking to, is the key to solving the case of the hauntings.[4]
Although there is no documented evidence of any of their discoveries, during their third Halloween special at the Conjuring House, it was revealed that due to a method called the Knocking method performed by Satori Hawes and Cody Ray Desbiens, which lets them contact with the spirits from the house, that one of the ghosts was Sam Golbach's own grandma. This moment would be regarded by the duo as their biggest moment of their life[5]
Eras
[edit]Urban Exploring (Seasons 1-4)
[edit]The Urban Exploring era, (also nicknamed as the XPLR era), is the first era of Sam and Colby: The Paranormal it ran from 30th of April 2015 and would end on 18th of November 2018. The base of this era lead the team into exploring abandoned places they found around the world, these places would originate from their hometown Kansas, Mexico and would end this era in Australia[6] This decision was in part due to them wanting to change the show's genre, getting tired of Urban Exploring and them getting arrested in 2019 for being caught trespassing on an abandoned school.[7] [8] [9]
Sam and Colby 2.0 (Season 5)
[edit]After the end of their Urban Exploring era, the team would begin to delve more into paranormal locations and began to reach new high ground on their show and the paranormal world. The premise of the second era was the team and their respective guests exploring locations that had reports of paranormal activity and investigating it's hidden secrets and if the rumors are actually true. This era began on the tenth of February 2019 and ended on april 7th 2019 after nearly risking their life after being caught inside the Enchanted Forest's ritual tunnel.[10]
Shadow Man era (season 6)
[edit]The Shadow Man era is the third era of the show and it began on the third of june 2019 and ended on the 14th of June 2020. The era was all based around their friend Corey Scherer and his demonic Shadow Man following him since he was a child after an accident with a Ouija Board session and the goal is for the team to remove his evil once and for all. Their battle to remove the demon would be long and treacherous, leading them into a dark past of terror, haunted hotels and even a depth into the team's own origin story.
Sam & Colby's Haunted 2020 (season 7)
[edit]Sam & Colby's Haunted 2020 is the show's fourth era, it began september 20th and ended november 20th 2020. The era was all based around the team bringing guests and celebrities into ghost hunting with them and going into the darkest and scariest locations of the year. However, after a colossal flop in quality and will of the team itself, the era would begin to serve as a era of change and learning to improve on the show's qualities.
25X25 (season 8)
[edit]The final era of the show's history is 25x25, a era that leads the team into their personal lives and the dreams they have always wanted to achieve.[11]
