  • 17:5017:50, 14 November 2019 diff hist −15 Maratha ConfederacyThe Maratha Empire consisted of folks from numerous castes and communities (Peasants, cobblers, nomadic tribes like Dhangar, Fisherman caste like Koli, the Brahmin chieftains like Govind Pant Bundele/Patwardhan/Balwant Mehendale). The word Maratha here gives the impression that this was related solely to the 96K Maratha caste. Marathi-speaking would be more appropriate over here given the widely divergent nature of the peoples who formed the Maratha Empire.

To reduce all of this to a simple sweeping generalization like "their acts of plunder alienated the masses" is not appropriate and is probably indicative of the the bias of the author towards the Marathas..

  • 23:0123:01, 2 April 2019 diff hist −63 m Maratha Confederacy(not to be confused as Marathi speaking people of Maharashtra) ..exactly why is this statement here? It is evident from all the available history that the Maratha empire was comprised essentially OF the Marathi-speaking peoples (many different castes/communities of Marathi peoples including the Brahmin Peshwas)...This statement only serves to confuse (perhaps intentionally) and separate the Maratha Empire, when in fact, it is an important part of the history of Marathi folks.

A pejorative reference is being portrayed as if it were some scholarly information, and given further promotion by putting this in the lede as if it were a crucial theme of the article. There are similar pejorative references for every group on earth. Are pejorative words used in the Lede to describe African-Americans? Or other Indian groups? Lastly, on what pages of 198/199 do Rujuta Diwekar and Shobhaa De reclaim this?
  • 18:3818:38, 2 April 2019 diff hist −142 Marathi peopleThe references cited i.e 'Yandu Gundu', 'Bhaiyya' for other Indian groups are anecdotal reports. A lede is a paragraph that summarizes the main ideas of an article. The pejorative reference to Maharashtrians is a main idea according to wikipedia author Jonathansammy? This is a clear case of someone having an axe to grind against a specific group of peoples and abusing Wikipedia for that purpose.
