Tex Reese (born November 2, 1971) is an American jazz saxophonist
Biography
[edit]Reese, was born in Mishawaka, Indiana, to John Reese and singer Cassandra Stringer. He was exposed to many kinds of music. Some of his earliest lessons in music and improvisation were in high school with Keith Rudolph and Chet Adkins. He was exposed at an early age to a variety of musics (jazz, classical, rock, soul, fusion and funk) and instruments (recorder, piano, ), and began playing alto sax at age nine before switching to what became his primary instrument, the tenor saxophone, one year later. The early influences of Jay Beckenstein, Wayne Shorter, Dexter Gordon and his mentor, Ira Sullivan, as well as Hall & Oats, Skywalk, Spyro Gyra, Koinonia, Flim & The BB's, the --Police and Rush drew Tex more deeply into music.
He graduated from Cascade High School
In 1994, he graduated with a degree in Psychology from Holy Cross of Notre Dame, where he was a member of The Band of The Fighting Irish.
