Legendary pianist Martha Argerich praised him as "a big talent, a brilliant pianist, a very dedicated and sensitive musician."

Zeev performs as soloist, chamber musician, and with symphony orchestras in major music festivals around the globe, including Oxford International Piano Festival, Lucerne Festival, and Allgemeine Musikgesellschaft Basel, among others.

Early life and education[edit]

Ido Zeev grew up in Givatayim and started playing the piano at the age of 10 under the tutelage of Ganit Polin at the Givatayim Conservatory. In 2012 he was accepted at the Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts in Israel, and since 2016, he has received advanced training at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music in Tel Aviv, earning his bachelor's degree under the supervision of Prof. Arie Vardi.[1]

He has also received artistic guidance from world-renowned pianists such as Evgeny Kissin, Christoph Eschenbach, Menahem Pressler, Boris Berezovsky, Michel Béroff and Marios Papadopoulos.

Career[edit]

Zeev has performed in prominent concert halls in Germany, Norway, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, the UK, Russia, Israel, and the US.

Winning first prizes in the major competitions in his country, he has been catapulted to the international scene after winning the 3rd prize in the renowned Vigo International Piano Competition, where the president of the jury was the legendary pianist Martha Argerich.

In the same competition, he won two other prizes: the prize for the best performance of a Latin-American composition and the Public Prize – awarded by audiences all around the world.[2]

In 2018 he gave a recital as part of the Rising Stars concert series of the Allgemeine Musikgesellschaft Basel in Switzerland,[3] a program that presents the most promising young artists of our time.

Reviews[edit]

Commenting on a 2019 performance in Oxford, the Music director of the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, Marios Papadopoulos, called Zeev "an exceptional pianist" with a "phenomenal technique and a warm, rounded tone." He also commented on Zeev as being "an excellent communicator" and added: "his playing also shows a deep understanding of the music and high intelligence."

In a review of his concert tour in Germany during the season 2022-2023, the Märkische Allgemeine Zeitung writes: “One immediately realizes Ido Zeev is technically brilliant. Concentrated and deeply absorbed, his hands seem to have a life of their own…he inspired the audience with technical perfection and exuberant emotion…by using the pedal in a measured manner, he makes each and every note shine, but also conveys strength and severity when needed. Nevertheless, Zeev's playing is impressively direct and captivating…The Adagio (from Beethoven's sonata op. 32) is the final jewel of the evening - for 20 whole minutes, it was magic that took the audience’s breath away”.[4]
