Life

[edit]

Fisch received his Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1928. Fisch’s outstanding scholarship and strong leadership guided the Peirce Edition Project during his tenure as Senior Editor. The library at the Institute for American Thought has been named after Fisch in his honor. In 1959 the Philosophy Department of Harvard University invited Fisch to be the official biographer of Peirce. Fisch spent nearly forty years collecting research to write Peirce’s biography. Fisch never completed the biography project. However, he did leave a legacy of scholarly information with the Peirce Edition Project.
