Kautex Maschinenbau GmbH is a German manufacturer of extrusion blow molding machines and the global market leader in the manufacture of machinery for producing plastic fuel tanks.[2] Besides the automotive sector, the technology from Kautex Maschinenbau is also used in the fields of consumer packaging, industrial packaging and special applications.[3]

The machines built in the main factory in Bonn are predominantly exported (the export share in the fiscal year 2015 came to around 80 %). In addition to the main factory, Kautex Maschinenbau has a factory in Shunde in southern China.

In addition to the headquarters in Bonn (approx. 410 employees), a customer service center in Berlin[4] and the factory in southern China (approx. 110 employees), there are offices in the USA, northern China, Russia, India and Italy.

What’s more, Kautex Maschinenbau is represented around the world by trading partners in 83 countries. Sales in 2015 came to around 110 million euros.[5]

Kautex Maschinenbau develops and manufactures all-electric and hydraulic machines for the fields of application consumer packaging, industrial packaging, automotive and special applications.[6]

Company history

The company is a spin-off from the former Kautex Werke (now Kautex Textron) and was sold to Fried. Krupp AG (Krupp Kautex Maschinenbau) in 1976 as Kautex Maschinenbau GmbH.[7] Due to its long history, the company can look back on expertise right from the founding of the company by Reinold Hagen in 1935.[8]

In 1980 name was changed to Kautex Maschinenbau GmbH. Krupp transfers its shares 1988 to Krupp Maschinentechnik GmbH. Establishment of Shunde Krupp Chen Plastics Technology Co. Ltd. (China) as joint venture in 1995.

Sale to SIG Holding AG of Switzerland in 2000 and change of company name to SIG Blowtec GmbH. Change of company name to SIG Kautex GmbH & Co in 2001. KG. Creation of a subsidiary in Italy (Olgiate Olona) in 2003. Transfer of shares to ADCURAM Beteiligungs AG and change of name to Kautex Maschinenbau GmbH in 2004.

In 2005 Shunde Kautex becomes a fully owned Kautex subsidiary. First management buyout enables five Kautex managers to purchase shares in the company in 2007[9]. Majority shareholder ADCURAM (Munich) is replaced by Steadfast Capital (Frankfurt/Main). Second management buyout[10] results in management having a majority shareholding in 2013. Steadfast replaced as principal shareholder by Capiton AG (Berlin). New factory opens in Shunde, China, and opening of a new sales office in Bangalore India.
