Recent revert

[edit]

Hi

This may have been a good faith error but regarding your recent revert of one of my reverts. I reverted a section blanking done by a vandal-only account and you appear to have restored that edit. Judging by your other edits, I take into account that this may have been done in error on your part in which you were trying to revert the vandal. If this is the case, please do not worry, I've fixed it now. Just thought I'd let you know in case you were in anyway concerned.

Many thanks - TLJ7863 (talk) 23:09, 9 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The user got reported to AIV as someone thought it was the block evasion of the vandal. 95.12.39.6 (talk) 23:11, 9 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This is a possibility, though due to their previous edit history I felt that it was the safest to assume good faith. TLJ7863 (talk) 23:12, 9 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I wanted to revert the vandals edit but I must have accidentally reverted your edit instead.--24.211.70.219 (talk) 00:26, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. Thanks for clarifying. TLJ7863 (talk) 00:55, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy tagging

[edit]

You're doing a lot of tagging of pages for speedy deletion, which is unusual for an IP. Some of your tags are good, but some are not. Please pay more attention to the criteria you pick. For example, a draft is not eligible for WP:A7 or WP:U5. The letter before the number indicates what namespace the criterion applies to, A for articles and U for userspace. The only criteria that apply to draft space are the G series, G meaning general and applying to all namespaces.--Bbb23 (talk) 16:06, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I understand. 24.211.70.219 (talk) 16:08, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Please read and understand WP:CSD. Your speedy deletion tagging for spam is just wrong on several occasions. -- Whpq (talk) 02:47, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have already read the CSD. 24.211.70.219 (talk) 13:49, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In that case, you need to think a bit more before tagging G11, because several of your taggings were very poor. -- |||| Whpq (talk) 14:33, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Why Not Create An Account?

[edit]

Hi, I have noticed you have been doing a lot of things like reporting vandals to AIV and tagging pages for speedy deletion. It would be a lot easier to do with tools like Twinkle which you can use if you create an account and get autoconfirmed,(4 days old account and 10 edits). Cheers, Seawolf35 (talk) 18:52, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I’m just not interested in one. 24.211.70.219 (talk) 18:54, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, totally your choice! Seawolf35 (talk) 18:56, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

Hey, if you have no interest in an account, I suggest you check out the user script User:Suffusion_of_Yellow/AnonSettings. It allows you to choose a skin, language, and gadget while logged out. Rusty4321 talk contributions 23:02, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi 24.211.70.219! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of an article several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. User3749 (talk) 15:10, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I understand, but I am also pretty sure the IP is trying to push an agenda. 24.211.70.219 (talk) 15:12, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm MrScorch6200. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to Personal wedding website—because it did not appear constructive. May I make a suggestion?

[edit]

What drew you to my attention was what appeared to me to be indiscriminate tagging of drafts and user sandboxes for deletion, often as advertising. To you I now believe this was a genuine belief that they were adverts needing to be disposed of.

The suggestion is to avoid those two areas, and to concentrate on mainspace material that should not be present.

The reason is that we can often persuade the creating editor in these more "protected" spaces to both become useful and to rescue their initial attempt.

I'd appreciate your thoughts, even if you feel somewhat hostile towards me. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 10:15, 11 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

While I will still nominate drafts and user sandboxes for deletion, I will be more careful on what is promotional and what is not and I will focus more on mainspace material. 24.211.70.219 (talk) 15:50, 11 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I cannot ask for more.
Often, but not always, we can turn an editor who has created an advert in error in a non mainspace area into one who starts to understand what we need. Some are obviously intractable, often being obvious COI/Paid editors, employees of the org they write about, etc.
I think they key is to look at whether it is submitted for review. Reviewers tend to wish to review these, even if they are poor indeed. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 15:55, 11 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I understand. 24.211.70.219 (talk) 15:56, 11 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Pasquier Grenier was not an artist or a weaver

[edit]

I see you have changed the wording on the page a few times now, but your changes are not correct, as Pasquier Grenier was neither an artist nor a weaver, but rather a dealer or agent who sold tapestries to people. He was in essence a middleman, but was not directly involved the design, creation or weaving of tapestries. There is no evidence that supports the claim that he was an artist. I will respectfully undo your addition of the word weaver, as I did artist. If you would like to learn more, please read the section on his death and legacy where I explain why he is not an artist.
