Notability of Scouting for girls

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Scouting for girls, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (below the existing db tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Whpq 17:49, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: United Home kit

[edit]

Yes, I noticed that the other day. Unfortunately, I didn't make the kit image used in the Man Utd article, so I don't have the ability to change it myself. Thanks for pointing it out though. - PeeJay 14:07, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Molvanîa flag.PNG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Molvanîa flag.PNG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 16:09, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Devon articles

[edit]

I had no idea what you were planning to do with those. They were little more than "X is a town in Devon." Sorry if I created more work for you, but small stubs like that are usually redirected back to a broader article. Won't happen again now that I know what you have in mind. User:Blofeld of SPECTRE does the same things with French towns and I should have concluded that you were doing the same. Thanks for letting me know. Klaksvík twin towns

[edit]

Hi, Where did you found informations about Klaksvík twin towns? I was on the Trondheim website about it and there was no Klaksvík in that list. Viltharis (talk) 01:05, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, sorry. I thought that you put this information on page about Klaksvík. I found this information in www.klaksvik.fo, but website of Trondheim says that they "have close ties with Klaksvik (The Faroe Islands)" ([1]) so what do you think - we should trust Faroese site or Norwegian? :) Viltharis (talk) 18:37, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wimbledon

[edit]

Please stop making 'spelling' edits to the Wimbledon articles. The diacritics discussion for tennis articles is a complicated one, and no consensus has been reached neither for nor against their use. However, the current pratice is to avoid them, until, eventually, a consensus is reached. So please don't make unilateral decisions on that matter, and stop (and possibly revert) all your 'spelling' edits. 82.124.123.76 (talk) 15:54, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, as I said, it's not that I desperately want incorrect and unprofessional information, but the diacritics discussion a complicated one, and it involve many, many, many differents points of view. It can't be settled by one single user. You may want to take at look at one part of the discussion here. 82.124.123.76 (talk) 16:00, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Unifixxi.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:49, 22 July 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Mark (Mschel) 12:49, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

[edit]

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

UEFA Regions' Cup

[edit]

It was a valid information. To the UEFA Refions' Cup qualify the champion of the Ukrainian Amateur Association. I agree that some of the info was to some degree corupt, but here is the official web-site of the Ukrainian Amateur Association. The site shows the official names of the teams. UEFA is an illiterate organization or at least they hire such. You can use translate option to translate it to English. [3]. Aleksandr Grigoryev (talk) 21:32, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I see your point. But how UEFA identifies those regions in Ukraine? By their administrative division? Did you know that current administrative division more than often does not respond to the name of actual regions? The Ukrainian Amateur Association advises upon which team will be representing Ukraine at UEFA Regions' competition. For the first edition of the tournament they, indeed, sent the collective team. The next teams in actuality were clearly represented by an individual club. For example, there are two teams from Odessa Oblast, but the fact is those were two completely diffrent teams. Besides, the UEFA web-site states that one of the team is Bastion Illichivsk, but for whatever reason on the wikipedia the team is simply identified as team of Odessa Oblast. I believe there should be a consistency or an explanation for that reason. Aleksandr Grigoryev (talk) 17:26, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OK. Here is what I found:

On the personal note, what did you mean when you said something about my problem? It seemed as if you're getting a liitle bit irritated. The problem is with the article which, I believe, can be improved. If you're taking it personal, please, accept my apologies. Aleksandr Grigoryev (talk) 18:08, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please read the guidelines at Template:Current sport. A current event template is supposed to be used to warn our readers that an article is being massively edited and/or rapidly changing. If the article is stable, there is no reason to warn our readers. Templates like this one are not supposed to be used to merely inform our readers that something is ongoing, since that is already obvious from the article itself. --Conti| 17:59, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That sounds fine by me. Just make sure to remove the template again when editing calms down. --Conti| 18:12, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I was going to say, if you want to undo them, I'm not stopping you. I'm personally in the mind that names should be spelled correctly (just because the English-speaking media is ignorant enough to not use nonstandard letters, doesn't mean Wikipedia should follow suit), that's all... I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. If everyone in the disambiguation link fixers category were to fix 500 links, we would have them all done - so aim high! Cheers! bd2412 T 02:10, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you can't give me any details about its provenance, I'll have to delete it (bearing in mind that deletions can be undone if circumstances change). DS (talk) 17:47, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
