Question from Ebubeobiegeegueeeguege (23:26, 3 July 2024)

[edit]

yo how u doin? I wanna make an article all about me, how would I come about this? Thanks my boi --Ebubeobiegeegueeeguege (talk) 23:26, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ebubeobiegeegueeeguege - I'd highly discourage you from attempting to write an article about yourself. Sorry! Calliopejen1 (talk) 19:35, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Mattia Count (12:45, 4 July 2024)

[edit]

salve, come posso creare una biografia personale? --Mattia Count (talk) 12:45, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Mattia Count I don't speak Italian and I don't know the rules/procedures of the Italian Wikipedia. If you're talking about an autobiography, I imagine those are discouraged at the Italian Wikipedia as well, though. Calliopejen1 (talk) 19:36, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from CCHSFl (20:58, 8 July 2024)

[edit]

Hello, The Clay County Historical Society Museum is located in the old courthouse annex, not in the train station. This should be corrected. --CCHSFl (talk) 20:58, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from LaniListens (20:03, 9 July 2024)

[edit]

Hi! I want to create a page on Yohanna Katanacho. He is an extremely accomplished Palestinian theologian, author, and speaker. He is currently the Dean of Bethlehem Bible College in Palestine, and he leads many humanitarian efforts. --LaniListens (talk) 20:03, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi LaniListens, I recommend reading WP:Your first article for more info about writing your first article. Also, the biggest issue for biographies is always whether the person is notable enough for an article. Please have a look at WP:BIO to assess. I see one good source in Google Books: [1]. I'm not sure whether there are other good sources available (e.g. newspaper articles about Katanacho). Calliopejen1 (talk) 23:28, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Insomniacturtle (03:02, 15 July 2024)

[edit]

I'm currently studying Albanian history and saw it noted on Enver Hoxha's page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enver_Hoxha) that Albania was the "first nation with complete electrification in the world." I checked the source for this comment listed as The History of Albania : From its Origins to the Present Day by Pollo, Stefanaq, and found the discussion in this book on page 280 (https://archive.org/details/historyofalbania0000poll/page/280/mode/2up). However, in the paragraph discussing this, it makes no mention of Albania being the first nation with complete electrification, only that Albania finished the project quickly and before schedule in 1970. Is this why it's noted on the original page that [better source needed]? --Insomniacturtle (talk) 03:02, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Insomniacturtle, I just went ahead and deleted that statement from the article because it's unsupported and I could not find an adequate alternative source with a quick check. (To the contrary, I found one article saying that the US was the first country with complete electrification.) Next time you find something like this, I encourage you to be bold and fix it! :) Calliopejen1 (talk) 23:02, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from ArmenianCrusader14 (04:50, 18 July 2024)

[edit]

Hey bro how do I make my own Wikipedia page --ArmenianCrusader14 (talk) 04:50, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

ArmenianCrusader14 I recommend reading WP:Your first article for more info about writing your first article. Let me know if you have any questions after reading that... Also a couple notes: 1) I'm a woman, not "bro" :) 2) there is no such thing as "your own Wikipedia page" -- all Wikipedia articles are collaborative 3) I'm hoping your username doesn't suggest that you're on Wikipedia crusading for Armenia, but you probably should review WP:NPOV in case. Good luck and happy editing! Calliopejen1 (talk) 19:55, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I see you've contributed a lot to Haitian literature, would you be interested in a wikiproject on oral tradition? Kowal2701 (talk) 13:45, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Ramekin99

[edit]

Hello Calliope! I am confused on the process of uploading a photo from Wikimedia Commons, I would like to upload a photo, but it always asks me if I created it. Which is a problem because I am trying to use a photo someone else created on Wikimedia Commons.

    Massively appreciated -Ramekin Ramekin99 (talk) 15:16, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Ramekin99 and apologies for the delayed reply. Do you mean that you are trying to add an image (that is already on Wikimedia Commons) to an article on Wikipedia? Calliopejen1 (talk) 16:23, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that is exactly what I am trying to do. The photo is on Wikimedia commons already, and I am trying to add it to an article on Wikipedia. Ramekin99 (talk) 15:06, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ramekin99, hopefully this page has what you're looking for: Help:Introduction to images with VisualEditor/3. Let me know if you have any questions! Calliopejen1 (talk) 20:05, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh hello! I was more so trying to upload the photo directly from Wikimedia Commons. Is that possible? Ramekin99 (talk) 23:47, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ramekin99 If an image is already in Wikimedia Commons, it should be just loaded from there. Very few images should be uploaded directly to English Wikipedia (pretty much only fair-use images or images that are in public domain in the US but not in their country of origin). Hello, how do I add a link to an word or phrase? --Gavin Ks (talk) 13:47, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Gavin Ks and welcome to Wikipedia! Here is a video that shows you how: File:How to make a wikilink.webm. Let me know if you have any questions! Calliopejen1 (talk) 16:24, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Ozzycode (21:11, 5 August 2024)

[edit]

What should I do if I think an article should be deleted? I can't seem to find any information online about this topic: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reverse_DDM and it seems like the original author was describing some sort of USB port management, and it seems like they just invented the term Reverse DDM. --Ozzycode (talk) 21:11, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ozzycode. For this I recommend the proposed deletion process described here: Wikipedia:Proposed deletion. Basically, in source-editing mode, paste {{subst:prod|The reason the article should be deleted}} at the top of the article. If someone contests the proposed deletion, you could use the WP:AFD process. Let me know if you have any questions, and good luck! Calliopejen1 (talk) 19:44, 6 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much. Have a nice day. Ozzycode (talk) 20:15, 6 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Jamee49 (16:26, 6 August 2024)

[edit]

Hey, I'm an artist on spotify. I only have 1 song so I don't have a page on here, but that 1 song has reached over 160k listens in just a month so I was thinking it would be cool to start a page here. I just dont know how, can you help please? --Jamee49 (talk) 16:26, 6 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Jamee49, sorry, but autobiographies are strongly discouraged here. You probably also do not qualify for an article at this stage of your career - see WP:NMUSIC. Calliopejen1 (talk) 19:45, 6 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
