Please remember to mark your edits as minor if (and only if) they genuinely are minor edits (see Help:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearranging of text without modifying content should be flagged as a 'minor edit.' [edit]

I have nominated List of teen dramas, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of teen dramas. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address Please stop your disruptive editing. Edit Summary

[edit]

Please note that you need to detail each edit you make in the edit summary box. You have continued to mark edits as minor even though they are not minor, and even though you have been instructed otherwise numerous times. Please cease doing so, and review what a minor edit is. Thank you very much in advance for your cooperation. Softlavender (talk) 10:09, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on List of Easter television specials requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Proposed deletion of List of Easter television specials

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article List of Easter television specials, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

more red than blue links, unmaintainable list, zero references, original research

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Hello, I appreciate the time you put into adding periods to this list. Unfortunately, periods don't go at end of incomplete sentences. Also, I reverted the addition of List of United Kingdom criminals to the "See also" section because it has only a loose connection to the page topic. Fair use rationale for File:519jVE0KE3L_SS500_.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:519jVE0KE3L_SS500_.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? feydey (talk) 13:19, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File:LawAndOrderS6.jpg

[edit]

I have tagged File:LawAndOrderS6.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Some examples can be found at Wikipedia:Use rationale examples. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. Thank you. feydey (talk) 13:19, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Chris Fenwick

[edit]

The article Chris Fenwick has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Very minor character. Appeared only in a few episodes in a long-running soap.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. I just thought I would ask if you would consider joining, if you don't that's fine but I just thought I would ask. If you do decide to, then please add your username to the 'support' section on Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/Hollyoaks. Thanks :) Whoniverse93 talk? 15:02, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Abi Raven.jpg

[edit]
File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Abi Raven.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:20, 24 September 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. W93 (talk) 20:20, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of List of Hollyoaks families

[edit]

The article List of Hollyoaks families has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Rather irrelevant to Hollyoaks, badly written, no sourcing.

W93 (talk) 20:16, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Hollyoaks Community College. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hollyoaks Community College. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:15, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your contributions. Please remember to mark your edits as "minor" only if they truly are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes, or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. Redfarmer (talk) 14:50, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article The Edlington Attempted Murders has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article is about a non-notable news event. See WP:NOTNEWS.

— Parent5446 (message email) 04:00, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated The Edlington Attempted Murders, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Edlington Attempted Murders. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 17:36, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead.

Using detailed edit summaries is the best way to ensure that your good faith edits are not reverted by recent changes patrollers or other wikieditors. Thanks and happy editing! — SpikeToronto 20:05, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately (and I am really honestly sad to say) that I have had to revert your edits on SVU characters, because you have made it a bit too complex, there were too many links, repeated characters etc. I am so sorry, but others have agreed that your edit was too difficult.

If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

LOUK

[edit]

I suppose one could argue the split might be appropriate. But it is a British programme and the proper terminology would be Law & Order: UK (series 1). Especially with this show. ITV commissioned them in 13 episode seasons which they then broadcast as 6 & 7 episode series. Citytv and BBC America showed them as their commissioned 13 episode seasons. If you want them as you have them they should be "series" (see Category:Britain's Got Talent or Category:Doctor Who series); if you want to call the articles "season" then you would need to combine what you have as 1 & 2, 3 & 4, and 5 & 6 into 1, 2, 3, and the forthcoming eight episodes as season 4. And maybe also not use such bright and unrelated colours too. And yes i know my signature is pink but that is one colour to the 5 you used in the episode list. delirious & lost~hugs~ 01:51, 6 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

POI characters

[edit]

Dan! I see you're working on POI character articles. I wanted to give you a heads up so that we don't duplicate efforts -- I've nearly finished an article on John Reese, and have one on Harold Finch in the works. I should have Reese ready to post tomorrow, and Finch in a few days. --Drmargi (talk) 21:35, 23 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Reese article is live. It still needs additional work (plenty), but it's in good enough shape to publish. --Drmargi (talk) 01:41, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Plagiarism/Copyright issues on List of POI characters

[edit]

DanDud, you have a significant plagiarism problem to address in the article List of Person of Interest characters. You've lifted your content word-for-word from the Pedia of Interest Wikia, aside from a little taken from the main article, then sourced (without formatting) to the original articles. Wikia content is available under the guidelines of CC-by-SA, but absent any proper attribution, you have represented the content as your own original writing, and that is plagiarism. Please see Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Sources under copyleft for guidelines how to address the issue. I've tagged the article to alert other editors to the issue. If you need assistance, see the template talk page, or Moonriddengirl is an expert on copyright issues. This needs immediate attention. --Drmargi (talk) 19:17, 16 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I thought all pedias were connected. DanDud88
They're connected at the corporate level. Copyright and licensing of content are different things. Regardless, you signed your name to that material, minus any attribution to Wikia, and that's plagiarism. You have to fix it. --Drmargi (talk) 21:12, 16 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've left the article alone for a week now, and you've taken no action to fix the massive plagiarism. I'm interpreting that is your consent to remove or modify the plagiarized content as needed. --Drmargi (talk) 18:16, 24 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes please --DanDud88

POI split (aka unholy mess)

[edit]

Dan, please, please do not attempt to split an episode article into season articles until you a) have consensus to do so and b) know what you're doing. You must have seen that your last attempt to split List of Person of Interest episodes into season articles left a series of problems behind. Worse, instead of getting help or trying to fix them, you simply gave up mid split and left the mess for another editor to clean up, just as you left the plagiarism mess discussed above for other editors to fix. That is simply not suitable editor behavior, and can lead to your being blocked; it's got me questioning your competence as an editor.

I've reverted the whole mess and restored the season article redirects. Before you attempt another split, you should:

  • Gain consensus for a split (this has been discussed repeatedly, and thus far there is none)
  • Learn the parameters for the splitting articles, beginning with WP:SIZERULE
  • Work with an experienced editor to learn how to do a correct split.
  • Populate the split article with original content, not more material plagiarized from the Pedia of Interest.

Concentrate on learning how to do basic edits and the policies behind them before you undertake anything this complex again, particularly given the blind eye you tend to turn to the messes you leave behind. Editing such as this is highly disruptive. --Drmargi (talk) 12:39, 2 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

TemplateData is here

[edit]

Hey DanDud88

I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).

So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.

What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.

The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.

Edit summaries

[edit]

Hi DanDud88, I saw your recent edits here and would like to encourage you to use edit summaries, as they are helpful to other editors who might be interested in understanding the reasons behind your edits. For example in the linked editing campaign you removed a lot of extra spaces without explanation. Some editors prefer having extra white space in articles so that the field parameters line up nicely on the edit page. But if you included a reason that made sense, it would help prevent confusion. Titles, edit summary and signature

[edit]

Dan, here we go again. Please refrain from adding elements to the titles of characters in Law and Order UK that are not used. There is not such thing as a Junior DS or Senior DS; Brooks and his partner have equal ranks: Detective Sergeant, and should be labeled accordingly. Brooks is the senior officer relative to each of his three partners, which can be explained in narrative, but adding incorrect terms to their ranks is inappropriate. Likewise, the crown prosecutors. Finally, Sharpe does not use the title Director of the Crown Prosecution Service; that appears after his name, and should be listed accordingly. If you don't know how these titles and labels are used, refrain from making edits to them. I've cleaned up your errors and messes too many times, as have other editors. You are responsible for making an appropriate effort to make accurate edits.

Similarly, you need to start using edit summaries, which you rarely if ever do, and to sign your name properly, using four tildes (~~~~) or the signature button. This will add a date/time stamp to your signature, as is required. You've been asked to do this before, and continue to refuse to learn better editing habits. This is considered disruptive editing, and can lead to a block. --Drmargi (talk) 15:40, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yet again...

[edit]

Dan, we're continuing to have the same problems on the Person of Interest articles: no edit summaries, no effort to discuss edits, headings incorrectly formatted, factual errors and more. Your organization of the recurring cast makes no sense whatsoever within the story structure, yet you try to force it in periodically. Leave it alone, and learn basic editorial practices, starting with use of an edit summary. --Drmargi (talk) 18:11, 5 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have now reverted your personal attack on the talk page for Person of Interest. If you have something constructive to add, do so, but personal attacks are not and will not be tolerated. I advise you to look to your own editing before you start pointing fingers and calling names. Just a quick scan down your talk pages speaks volumes, as does the amount of editing you have done that has required one or more editors to clean up your messes, both here and on the POI wiki. --Drmargi (talk) 04:37, 6 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Lets see, you reverted me on the talk rather than openly discussing it on there as to why I'm wrong. I stand by what I said, as for the my own talk page alot of my pages I created were for characters to a British soap opera that I use to watch and It was decided long after I created those pages that that there should be several character list pages rather than individual ones and I agreed. But I don't agree with you, you want discussions before editing, well look on the talk page for the POI episode list a lot of people have said they want to split the season up, but you don't. You want me to put in an edit summery, but its not compulsory I never see a message denying my edits and telling me to put a summery in. If you notice that on top of the List of Person of Interest character page it says "Parts of this article (those related to article) are outdated. Please update this article to reflect recent events or newly available information. (August 2014)" so when I try to fix that by adding where characters started from and where there journey in the series ended up taking them and cutting out the middle bits including most of what I copied of the wiki of interest, which is what you yourself complained about. I hold my hands up and cop to that crime I did copy from that source but It was just until I had time to come back and edit it a sort of placeholder if you will. But all my corrections are reverted by you, because its not what you wanted. D.Dudley (talk) 08:53, 7 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
If you really want to know why your edits are reverted, take a look at the grammar, spelling, cohesion, and policy errors in your post above. That says it all. You violate copyright, and when challenged, your only response is to expect someone else to clean it up. You make up character titles and ranks (see Law and Order UK.) You remain completely clueless about simple policies such as the use of an edit summary. You won't discuss, either proactively or reactively, just verbally pout when someone reverts your edits. You want to arrange characters into incoherent, nonsensical groups rather than by storyline (Family and friends? Don't make me laugh!) and can't format headings correctly. I also noticed you've been reverted on the POI wikia site as well for similar reasons (I thought at least there I'd have some peace from your incompetence). Your edit regarding Fusco on Wikia was a series of factual, grammar and spelling errors, and one of the admins removed it, it was so bad.
Worse, you're like a lemming: you want to split seasons here for the sake of splitting the seasons, then add nothing to the individual articles but a picture of the DVD. Splitting for the sake of splitting is a damned lousy reason to do so, and you clearly have no interest in actually building quality seasonal articles -- like every other mess you make, you'll walk away and leave the real work for others. Under those circumstances, why shouldn't you be reverted and kept from forcing readers to link to another (likely not notable) page to find what's already available in the main episode list article? And that assumes you'd even do the split correctly. History suggests you won't. Gad, you can't even sign your posts correctly. You are totally lacking in competence to edit here, and need to stop until you're willing learn the basics. --Drmargi (talk) 17:16, 6 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
So basically your saying your a Grammar Nazi D.Dudley (talk) 08:52, 7 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

WP:OR Interpretive content

[edit]

Hi there, please do not add unsourced interpretive content as you did in these edits at List of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012 TV series) characters. Though you are likely correct that the Space Heroes characters are based broadly on Star Trek TOS, those comparisons need to come from reliable sources, not from your personal interpretation, which would constitute original research. Problematic edits

[edit]

Hi there again. I've noticed some more problematic edits that I, unfortunately, must bring to your attention:

  1. This edit introduces a large amount of content, including prose, which appears to have been copy/pasted from List of Gerry Anderson's New Captain Scarlet episodes. While we are allowed to copy between Wikipedia articles, we still must provide proper attribution. See WP:CWW for information. There are two ways to do that. The simplest is to include a clear edit summary along the lines of copied content from [[article name]]. The other way to do this after the fact, is by using Template:Copied on the talk page. Note, that copying content the way you did here in February 2015, is never permissible.
  2. You need to familiarize yourself with proper use of See also sections, since many of your recent additions have not conformed to normal usage, like here, here and here, among others. Most of these have already been reverted by other community members, which should suggest that you're not using the section correctly. Please refer to the See also guidelines for how to properly use this section. Generally speaking, these lists already exist in the form of categories, like Category:Animated television series based on Marvel Comics. In the case of this addition, a smarter approach might have been to link to List of television series based on Marvel Comics and List of television series based on DC Comics, which requires significantly less real estate, but is probably not warranted anyway. Note also from the instructions: As a general rule, the "See also" section should not repeat links that appear in the article's body or its navigation boxes.
  3. In this edit you introduced prose that was not written in proper encyclopedic tone. We don't use contractions like "they've". We don't use incomplete sentences like, "As they interview him, they realize they may have found a serial killer!" We also don't use exclamations or rhetorical questions like, "Meanwhile one of the children soon dies... at only aged twenty two months, can Friday find the mother!" And, there is very seldom a good reason to use ellipses. Plot summaries should explain in 100-200 words what happened in the episode. They should not be written to entice the reader, or promote the series.

Please note that what I am bringing up to you represents widespread community consensus. Consistently editing against community standards is very likely to result in your editing privileges being interrupted. This isn't intended to be punitive, however if an editor shows little disregard for community editing standards, or just as bad, that s/he is not competent to edit here, admins will revoke editing privileges to prevent damage to the encyclopedia. Thanks. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:42, 18 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The Dragnet summaries are likely plagiarized from another source. This editor habitually plagiarizes content from wikis and other sources, then expects other editors to clean up after him. He has long demonstrated a total lack of competence to edit, yet remains unblocked despite repeated warnings such as yours, and a complete refusal to correct his editing. I can't tell you the number of times I've reverted garbage just such as you discuss above. Yet he does not improve. --Drmargi (talk) 22:41, 18 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Alt titles

[edit]

Please note that per my fixes here, we use the |AltTitle= parameter if a program has an alternate title. Please see Template:Episode list for more options. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 22:39, 15 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Competence is required at Wikipedia. If you are incapable of double-checking your work and making sure that things are grammatically and typographically sound, for instance here, then you are leaving the editing community with little recourse but to interrupt your editing privileges. I don't see how you can spell "addict" correctly once, but not twice, why you think Teenage and Narcotics are proper nouns in need of capitalization, and so forth. You're creating unnecessary work for other editors, which is disruptive. If you have a compelling explanation, I'd sure like to hear it, otherwise, the next time you submit problematic content, I'll have to drag you to ANI. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 08:24, 21 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dan, it's long past time you take this seriously. Wikipedia isn't a fan site, and it isn't your playground. Your refusal to cooperate and work within standards is becoming increasingly disruptive. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. You have been blocked from editing for a period of 1 week for persistent disruptive editing. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  NeilN talk to me 04:13, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I really didn't want to have to do this but after you said you were going to quit, you kept on making the same types of errors and unsourced additions. WP:V is not a "silly rule" but rather the foundation that article content is built upon. You are very welcome to edit if you understand this. --NeilN talk to me 04:19, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

More copyright/plagiarism issues

[edit]

Dan, you were recently blocked for a number of issues including plagiarism and the improper introduction of copyrighted material into the encyclopedia. Do you have any explanation for why, after your block expired, you added content in this edit that looks to be a verbatim copy of this episode summary and a very closely paraphrased version of this one? You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for violating copyright policy by copying text or images into Wikipedia from another source without verifying permission. You have been previously warned that this is against policy, but have persisted.

Please take this opportunity to be sure you understand our copyright policy and our policies regarding how to use non-free content. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  NeilN talk to me 22:14, 9 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • You were warned about copyright violations previously and blew it off as "silly rules". [1]
  • You committed another apparent copyright violation and were asked to explain.
  • Instead of explaining, you chose to resume editing articles.

I have therefore blocked you indefinitely as copyright violations are a serious breach of Wikipedia policy. Note to potential reviewing admin: If the block is appealed no need to check with me as I'll be away for the next 10-11 days. --NeilN talk to me 22:24, 9 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppet investigation

[edit]

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/DanDud88, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

Request reason:

Hi I know that your rules are important, but I just wanted to help and all those pages about Copyrighting and stuff, well I kinda didn't read them. And now I wish I had. I'm realy sorry to have disrupted your Wikipedia thing I was just trying to help but got a little overboard and carried away and didn't think full stop. D.Dudley (talk) 10:37, 25 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I'm deeply concerned that not only did you violate our copyright policies, placing the entire Wikipedia project at risk, but you set up an account to get around your block. And that account was active less than a week ago. Now, on the bright side, I don't see (a significant amount of) copyright violations on the new account, so that's a good thing. A very good thing, actually. Anyway, I'm not going to lift the block at this time because I'd like you to clarify. You earlier stated that our copyright policies as "silly rules" when in fact, your actions literally placed the future of Wikipedia in jeopardy. Can you please explain your understanding of our copyright policies in detail (say, a paragraph or two) so we can see you get them, and get why they are so important? We need to be convinced that you'll never violate them again and never set up WP:SOCK accounts to get around your block, if you run into trouble again. Yamla (talk) 12:48, 25 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

@Yamla: there are a lot more editorial considerations than copyright violations where this editor is concerned. I would strongly advocate for him to remain blocked until he can address in a satisfactory way:

* His complete unwillingness to use edit summaries.
* His failure to respond to notices and discussions on his talk page.
* His edit warring and refusal to participate in talk page discussions.
* The formatting messes he creates when he attempts complex edits he lacks the skills to execute. When confronted about them, he views these messes as someone else's problem to clean up.
* His general lack of maturity and his crap attitude about being part of a collaborative project.

His talk page is chronicles the litany of problems he's created, and his complete lack of responsively. He should not be allowed to edit again until he can demonstrate he has come to grips with these issues. --Drmargi (talk) 02:07, 26 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:EllieMills.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:EllieMills.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Notice

The article List of United States criminals has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Hopelessly broad in scope, unreferenced, apparently almost unwatched WP:BLP vandalism magnet. The "serial killers section" is almost entirely redundant with the better-referenced List of serial killers in the United States and should be redirected there. What does that leave us with? (1) An unreferenced, context-free list of "female Americans convicted of murder". (2) ONE "male American convicted of murder" (3) A small eclectic collection of "convicted insider traders / securities fraud", again without references or any context whatsoever. (4) O.J. Simpson. Could something of value be created here? I don't know, but let's drop some WP:TNT into the BLP thicket that is the history of this article, and start over.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:MandyHutchinson.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:MandyHutchinson.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Request reason:

Having thought about it plagiarising someone and breaking copyrights would be taking away hard work someone else has made is not fair to that person who wrote them. I really miss being able to edit Wikipedia and would be grateful for an administrator to unblock me i would work harder not to plagiarise or break copyright. Thank You. Decline reason:

This is simply inadequate. You've only attempted to address one issue, and you've done so poorly. It's fairly simple to avoid plagiarizing the works of others; just stop doing it. Request reason:

Hello there time has passed and I feel I have grown as a person, Drmargi was correct in having me blocked for plagiarism and copyright offences as Plagiarism and copyright violations are serious offences that undermine the integrity of the Wikipedia platform and work of other contributors. I know it properly won't help my case but I have mild Autism (Asperger's syndrome) and while that is not an excuse for my actions but it might explain why I love editing Wikipedia (as well as IMDB) it is something I love doing, please unblock me. This does not come close to addressing the reason for the block and it does not discuss your block evasion. You will need to convince us that you understand what copyight is and how copyrighted content may be used on Wikipedia. If you have a condition that prevents you from abiding by our policies, you must remain blocked to protect this project. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 14:27, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
