Welcome!

Hello, Destron Commander, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!  Qaz (talk) 15:00, 3 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I see you have actually been here since 23 Sept. but I thought a late welcome was better than none. I hope you continue to do well here. Good luck. Qaz (talk) 15:00, 3 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Since Category:G.I. Joe characters is already a subcategory of Category:G.I. Joe, there's no need to include articles in both categories. The practice here is to include articles that belong in the subcategory only in the subcategory, otherwise it's redundant. Cheers!  BD2412 talk 23:17, 23 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Web-screenshot tag

[edit]

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. I've noticed you've uploaded some images tagged with {{web-screenshot}}. This tag is not meant to be used for images that came from Web pages; it's meant to be used for images of Web pages (such as Image:Google screenshot.png, for example). I've retagged the images below as having no license information. Please make sure that Wikipedia has permission to use these images. Then edit the image description pages to include information about the licenses these images are under. You may find an appropriate tag at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags or Wikipedia:Template messages, or if none of these fit you may write a description of the license yourself. You may want to refer to the image use policy. If the use of this image on Wikipedia is a copyright violation, please follow the steps at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion to nominate this image to be deleted. If you have any questions, please feel free to post a message on my talk page. —Bkell 17:28, 31 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for revisiting these image description pages, but "edited Web screenshot" and "edited image" don't give any information about the source or copyright status of these images. Wikipedia cannot use copyrighted images without the permission of the copyright holder, except when the use of such images falls under "fair use" (read the fair use article for more information). We must establish, for every image on Wikipedia, that the use of this image in Wikipedia articles is legal under United States copyright law. This is the purpose of all those image copyright tags.
You need to go back to these images and, for each one, clearly state the original source and choose an appropriate image copyright tag that accurately describes the license the image is being used under. If we cannot establish the original source and license that allows an image to be used on Wikipedia, we must unfortunately delete the image to avoid violating U.S. copyright law.
Again, if you have any questions about all this, or would like some help in determining which copyright tag to use, please post a message on my talk page. —Bkell 08:07, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again. I see you've changed the tags on these images back to {{web-screenshot}}. Now we're back where we started. The problem with the {{web-screenshot}} tag on these images is that they are not images of Web pages. They are pictures of G.I. Joe characters, not Web pages. So the {{web-screenshot}} tag does not apply to these images and cannot justify their use on Wikipedia.
We must have source and license information for all images on Wikipedia. This is not just some annoying Wikipedia policy; we need this information because we must comply with United States laws. I see you have included source information for Image:Destro.jpg, but the other two have no information at all about where they came from. And none of these three has any justification for why their use on Wikipedia is legal under United States copyright law. Please find out if these images can legally be used on Wikipedia by contacting the copyright holder. If the copyright holder gives this permission, then you need to look through the list of image copyright tags and select the appropriate tag from this list (if none of them fit quite right, choose the nearest approximation and then give more details in a paragraph below the tag). If we do not have permission from the copyright holder to use this image, then we must delete it, unless it happens to satisfy the four requirements necessary to qualify as fair use. In this case, you can choose one of the fair use tags to use on the image description page. If it turns out that the use of these images is a copyright violation, then you can follow the steps at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion to nominate them to be deleted.
Please spend some time fixing these problems. If I can be of any help to you, post a message on my talk page. —Bkell 18:28, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Destro.jpg looks fine now. It has a source and a copyright tag that makes sense. However, the other two images, Image:Gijoesigma6.jpg and Image:Hawkgijoe.jpg, are still missing source information. If you got them from a Web page, the address of the Web page would be all that's needed. Sorry to keep bothering you like this, but we really need this information. —Bkell 05:28, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Joes2.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 23:22, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I got your message. I was a big fan of GIJOE and I notice that you did not complete listing of characters. I have seen Cover Girl often in comic books and cartoon. I am talking about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G.I._Joe:_A_Real_American_Hero and I wonder if you have fix this connecting to catorgy GIJOE that has complete listing of characters? I put "more information...." under your character list. Have you read his message? ""Category:G.I. Joe Hi. Since Category:G.I. Joe characters is already a subcategory of Category:G.I. Admin actions

[edit]

Hi Destron. I just had an Admin (Coredesat) wipe out my entire Action Man wiki page, on the grounds that it was too promotional... he didn't use the discussion page, or explain what he felt was 'promotional'.. have you ever run into anything like this? I reverted to an earlier edit, but I'm assuming he'll do it again. What recourse do we have? Can I complain to someone? It does not seem right.... Hholland 15:39, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Gijoesigma6.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Gijoesigma6.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 10:58, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Joe Wiki Banners

[edit]

Hey Destron Commander, is there anyway you can fix the picture placement on the Joe Wiki banner? It looks like it's glitched because the picture hides some of the text. I was gonna pull it off the Larry Hama page, but I see you've put them everywhere.

Thanks! Everyone understands the knife. (talk) 17:25, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:JoeWiki.PNG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:JoeWiki.PNG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

This image primarily consists of logos copied from GI Joe packaging, making it non-free. You labeled it as being under the GNU Free Documentation License, which is not the case. Non-free images like this cannot be used in templates such as {{JoeWiki}}. So I went and changed {{JoeWiki}} to use text instead.

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Allstarlogo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Allstarlogo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 06:14, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stella Bonasera

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Stella Bonasera, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Stella Bonasera. Travellingcari (talk) 02:43, 20 January 2008 (UTC

Hi there, I left the message out of courtesy because you had worked on the article and I wanted to let you know why I had proposed it for deletion in case you had input you wanted to add. That's all. Travellingcari (talk) 16:46, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Image:Serpentor.jpg

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Image:Serpentor.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free image with no fair use rationale uploaded after May 4, 2006 which has been tagged as not having a rationale for more than 7 days.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[Talk:Image:Serpentor.jpg|the article's talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Notice

The article Iron Grenadiers has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication this toy line related to a fictional military organization (from a game/action product series) passes WP:NFICTION/WP:GNG. Pure WP:PLOT+WP:OR.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
