B. Sandhya

[edit]

Hi friend, I have reverted three of your edits in the article B. Sandhya. The first one, I corrected as 'officer' as police department is not an occupation. The second edit is not normally noted in the lead section of biographical articles as it is minor information. The third one is not admissible as social media citations are not allowed in Wikipedia. You may add the date of birth of the subject of the article as and when you can find a reliable third party citation to support the claim. --jojo@nthony (talk) 10:44, 19 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add content without supporting references even if the content added is factual. In Wikipedia, all the claims must be supported by reliable references. --jojo@nthony (talk) 10:48, 19 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Please do not add unsupported claims; such editing may result in losing editing rights.-Please also use your sandbox to learn how to add citations. WP:CITEHOW may be of help. -jojo@nthony (talk) 14:10, 19 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Highway Police (2006 film) moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Highway Police (2006 film), does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Control copyright icon Hello Altocar 2020! Your additions to Soosa Pakiam have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 15:20, 3 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

When to add citations

[edit]

Citations should only be used when there is specific information which needs to be referenced to a reliable source in order to meet our policy on verifiability, and generally only if the information being referenced is likely to be challenged. You should not, for example, add citations to news articles that you find interesting, or that are news about the subject of the article unless you're also writing about that news in the article. Information icon Hello, I'm Geniac. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Geniac (talk) 17:15, 14 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Archer1234. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Sathyan Anthikad, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page.

IMDb is *not* a reliable source (see WP:IMDB, WP:IMDB/RS and WP:IMDB-EL).

Also, per WP:BLPREMOVE: we remove birth date if no WP:reliable source is cited to WP:VERIFY it (see WP:DOB). If you have a published reliable source that can verify it, then you can add it back as long as you cite the source in the article.
