Weatherboxes

[edit]

I've noticed you've made a lot of weatherbox templates by moving the information from the articles to their own templates. While this can be useful in some cases, provided these are only included on one article, it's generally better to leave the content in the article instead of moving it to a separate template. Can I suggest you reconsider your actions here? Thanks. Elli (talk | contribs) 03:13, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Elli: Thanks for sharing your opinion. Some templates use a lot of data and editing any text inline becomes really laggy on a big page. Then I'm not the first one having done so. And to me it makes perfect sense to categorize them. Look at American cities https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:United_States_weatherbox_templates. Then there's a reuse possibility. I'm definitely not rolling back anything as it took a lot of time to that and retrospectively it is a correct approach IMHO Belgampaul (talk) 04:30, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That's fair. I do think there are some cases where this makes sense, but it seems like there's a general community consensus against doing this? For example Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2021 December 24#Single-use weather box templates (A–C) (where I supported substitution and deletion). If you'd like to get consensus for a change like this, I wouldn't oppose that, but I do think until that's decided it doesn't make sense to continue doing this. I won't personally nominate any of your templates for deletion, though. Elli (talk | contribs) 05:10, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Slovakia weatherbox templates indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself.
