Safen

[edit]

I've heard this used in spoken language. I only added it after I saw it in the Merriam-Webster dictionary. It obviously needs clean up and should be marked as such not for deletion. The dictionary link is a paywall but is the first item in the search below:

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Kalpavriksha (disambiguation), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Morus (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

HCR Rank Formula

[edit]

Hello, Jayakumar RG

Previously, you were giving reason that article is not explaining significance & now, you are saying that my article is duplicate to a wiki article. Could you tell me which article of wikipedia is being duplicated by 'HCR Rank Formula' which I created??

This one: HCR's Rank Formua. And why are you recreating a deleted article? Please try this. Jayakumar RG (talk) 10:30, 3 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Jayakumar RG
The page 'HCR's Rank Formula' you tagged two times for deletion, is a case study & intellectual information.
It is a case study & hence it is sufficient to explain about the its concept, method, significance & applications etc. It is not necessary to explain why certain formula or theory is significant for Wikipedia.
For instance, Take an Wikipedia article 'Pythagorean Theorem'
It only explains its scope, method/procedure, significance, applications etc. It does not explain why it is suitable Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hcr1991 (talkcontribs) 10:43, 3 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Add your comments at the bottom of the talk page, not top. I have answered your question at the article talk page. -- Jayakumar RG (talk) 10:47, 3 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That is because Pythogras theorem is notable. Is your topic? If yes, please establish it. Wikipedia does not publish all available academic theses. This is an encyclopedia. -- Jayakumar RG (talk) 10:43, 3 May 2014 (UTC) (Copied from Talk:HCR's Rank Formula which was not a good place to reply brcause it gets deleted. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 13:06, 3 May 2014 (UTC))[reply]

Hi. Sorry, but you can't use A7 (significance) on paddy fields. It's for people, named animals, events and web content. An Irishman called Paddy Field might be tagged A7, but not a rice field. Peridon (talk) 17:07, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've prodded it. (And added an end to the small setting RHaworth used above.) Peridon (talk) 17:11, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

airbackup proposed deletion

[edit]

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from airbackup, which you proposed for deletion. I am leaving this message here to notify you about it. Hello! The article has just been shortened and parts that may have appeared promotional have been removed in that process. The article now aligns with articles of other backup software. If you still think the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to it. Instead, feel free to list the article at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Hello, Jayakumar RG. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Kalpavriksha (disambiguation), for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Mabalu (talk) 14:33, 10 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Objection to proposed deletion of University of Toronto United Nations Society

[edit]

Hi Jayakumar RG,

I wanted to make my case objecting against the proposed deletion of the article University of Toronto United Nations Society. The club functions as a separate and distinct organization that represents the University of Toronto. The club does not fit on the University of Toronto page because there are no other clubs that are featured. The club has a rich history on its own. Please help suggest how to improve page and I can certainly do that.

Agmateo (talk) 06:17, 11 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Since WP is a general encyclopedia, creating articles about very specialized topics like a university club may not be encouraged. You keep mentioning that the club has a rich history, whereas it was only founded in 2002. I dont think that this is sufficiently notable to get an article on its own. --Jayakumar RG (talk) 08:06, 11 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Mentioned you in some WikiProjects

[edit]

Hi! I just wanted to let you know that I've dropped your name at a few WikiProjects that have to do with the subjects in the How to Kill a Dragon book. I've asked for help with the article, but I also asked for them to help you in general as far as editing goes. I hope you don't mind. It's just that I've found that academia related articles can often be difficult to edit, especially if you're new and/or a student, as you have to find a way to phrase things without doing copyvio but also in a way that doesn't come across as WP:OR. I've seen some beautifully written articles by people that are wonderful and informative... but don't really fit our editing NPOV/encyclopedic tone. That's part of the reason I've stayed mostly with mainstream fiction and non-fiction titles, since the academic texts are harder to write up. I definitely admire that you're trying to tackle such weighty subjects, as we need more people willing to do this. In any case, I mostly just wanted to let you know I asked for people to help you out. The article for the book shoudl have enough to remain and hopefully we'll have some more people chipping in to help soon. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 15:33, 24 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • I dont know how to express my gratitude to you :). Thanks for expanding the article so much and helping to save it from deletion. Yes, I do think I am incompetent with wp policies and need a mentor. Jayakumar RG (talk) 15:37, 24 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Contest deletion of Spirit Rider: The Series of Kanesha's Heart

[edit]

I am new to writing wiki pages, so could you instead tell me how to include better content to increase the importance of the Spirit Rider page? It is a young adult fantasy novel and students need to have ready access to information about its plot and publication.

A. Grace Martin (talk) 15:28, 20 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A. Grace Martin

The important thing about creating an article on Wikipedia is to make sure the subject is notable. If you are new to creating articles, you can start with AfC. You have included links which act as references for this article- those links must preferably be third-party sources, and not self published. If there are news items that attest the notability of your article's subject, please include them in the article. Jayakumar RG (talk) 16:24, 20 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have also been forced to remove the Rollback right from this account for now. This is not your first time edit-warring, and such action is unacceptable on Wikipedia. Please spend at least 6 months working on removing actual vandalism, and following WP:BRD before requesting the permission again the panda ₯’ 18:29, 20 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Since I haven't used rollback throughout any dispute, I don't understand why rollback had to be removed. I never used rollback for anything other than reverting vandalism. Jayakumar RG (talk) 02:54, 21 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Editors who edit-war using any tool are ineligible for Rollback the panda ₯’ 09:07, 21 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed other users who edit-warred and got blocked, but their user rights were not changed(rollback and reviewer). I think removing my rollback is overly harsh, since I have spent considerable time reverting vandalism using Stiki, after getting rollback and there has been no complaint regarding my use of rollback. In fact, using Stiki is what I do a lot on WP nowadays and taking it away is as good as kicking me out of WP. I understand that I went too far with the Anil Agarwal article, but I didn't really edit war anywhere else. I informed the other user in the article talk page about the reason I wanted to convert the article it to a redirect and I thought I was following prior consensus. Jayakumar RG (talk) 13:24, 21 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I also promise not to edit-war henceforth under any circumstance. Jayakumar RG (talk) 13:40, 21 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
What does "reviewer" have to do with anything here? The fact that you only RECENTLY obtained the privilege, and violated a key tenet of Wikipedia so quickly shows that you never should have been granted it, yet. I'd be willing to unblock based on your promise not to edit-war again, but return of the rollback right will require you to follow what I have stated above the panda ₯’ 18:15, 21 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The user I am talking about also received the rights recently. Besides, rollback is only used to revert vandalism and it has nothing to do with edit warring. I still don't see the point of removing rollback since I have considerable history of using rollback rights for the right reasons. Jayakumar RG (talk) 03:35, 22 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Another fault of yours: you keep spinning the same wheels. It gets very annoying for others and they quit responding. Even if 10 other people are reading your conversation, they are likely not going to respond because they don't want to get into a lame argument. At this stage, you should take break for some days and come up with new argument and better explanations. You have been told at least 3 times on this particular section that whoever has rollback right, they must know when and where to revert edits, for one, you didn't know how notable that multi-billionaire is, and there's nothing bad in keeping a page about him on this website.

It is better if you just drop these issues, and create some new articles or expand small articles. But if you still want to discuss about these admin actions, just file a complaint on Wikipedia:ANI. Or you could also consider a Wikipedia:RFC/ADMIN. Bladesmulti (talk) 04:59, 22 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

OK, Anil Agarwal was a wrong call, but what about the other article- Ram karmabhoomi? Turning it into a redirect was a no-brainer, and yet you just reverted it. I opened an AfD, and you didn't even comment there. I was getting the feeling that you were being unfair. Jayakumar RG (talk) 05:25, 22 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Jayakumar RG. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Hariharasudhan(singer)".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Hariharasudhan(singer)}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save page", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. LorTalk 02:22, 11 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
