Virtusa

[edit]

This is pretty much a nothing page detailing the company's contacts and website. Without more detail it can easily be construed as nothing more than an advertisment for Virtusa. To meet wikipedia's criteria the page needs more details. Suitable information includes (but is not limited to):

  • the founding of the company
  • previous business models
    • Virtusa
    • previous related companies
  • major endeavours
  • notable employees and board members

Try visiting the various pages given above for more details on what is expected from a good wikipedia article Jaxsonjo 08:32, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of "Box Car Blues"

[edit]

A page you created, Box Car Blues, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it is about a real person, group of people, band, club, company, organisation, or web content, but does not indicate why its subject is important or significant.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

Re Lotus Grove

[edit]

Hi from Lotus Grove - that is where I live (I was about to write "...that's where I live..." and then remembered you do not like unnecessary apostrophes so am avoiding them!) So is this how I write to you? By the way I am most impressed with your User Page!

How do I cite my article on Lotus Grove when that is where I live and is as described in the article please?? Help!

Thanks. Mehranwahid (talk) 10:26, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again - I quite agree with what you have said, and no problems with whatever you do, I have a great deal of respects for the system here. But I would be grateful for a little more time to work on it in an attempt to bring it into line (er, is this how I reply...?). Now am looking for citations and as an example would the following help (I know it is not enough) or would it be thrown out right off?

[Ceylinco Homes International - Lotus Grove]

[Daily Mirror financial page article]

Can you check your Plaxo page please?

Thanks

Mehranwahid (talk) 03:05, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Real life? That is easily solved (you have a huge advantage in knowing almost exactly where I live)! Why not bring some of your friends or family and see what Lotus Grove really is - I promise, unless you've been here before, it will prove interesting (at least to see crocs in the wild in Dehiwala)... hence my interest in the Plaxo connection (beyond Wikipedia I doubt we have very much else to talk about - remember 'The Typewriter'... I was once even using a slide-rule believe it or not). Take the connection, if you don't like it am sure you've got better protection than the Blocked Senders List!

Thanks for the advice - I have tons to contribute on ships but do not know where to start and want to get to grips with procedures before venturing onto the serious stuff!!

Speedy deletion of Suresh de Silva

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Suresh de Silva requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Cannibaloki 21:52, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:39, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited ESOFT Computer Studies, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Pearson. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

File source problem with File:RaincoLogo.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:RaincoLogo.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Prasanna Jayakody requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://imagineindia2015eng.wordpress.com/2016/12/31/sansare-dadayakkara-a-film-of-prasanna-jayakody-srilanka-in-barcelona/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
