Hi @Liz: these categories will be autopopulated by a new module, Module:Korean transliteration notice. I've requested a code review but imagine they might populate soon. Are you aware of a way of notifying admins not do delete categories that auto-populate if they are empty?--Nonabelian (talk) 16:30, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

MOS thread and competing code notice

[edit]

Hi! This is 104.232.119.107/toobigtokale from the Sejong article/MOS draft. I just decided to make an account.

Two things: first is that I posted a discussion thread on the MOS draft talk page.

Second thing is that, as a heads up, the other IP user that's been editing the MOS draft and I have been working on developing a RR/MR converter from scratch for around a month or so; our code is maybe 60% finished, although this has been delayed because I've been sick recently. You can see when we first conceptualized it here. Our version has a number of features that capture a large number of edge cases. If you'd like to see it, I can email you a link to a draft of it. seefooddiet (talk) 16:31, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Seefooddiet: Thanks for the ping! Just a heads up that my response rate might be a bit slower over the next week as I'm traveling, but I've seen your posts and am thinking them through. I'll get back to each one!
RE: code, that sounds interesting! I tried to begin experimenting with extracting some functionalities from Module:Hangul and Module:lang into a new module Module:Transliterate Korean. We might need to request some of those functions to change their code to be global rather than local for it to work, but I haven't fully grasped the current implementation yet. Is your code available on GitHub or a similar platform? That said, I'm not entirely sure if I want to take on such a large project. Once the MOS is complete (which I'm guessing is still a few weeks away) I plan to focus on improving the Sejong article for GA/FA status. Nonabelian (talk) 22:03, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We'll post a draft to Wikipedia at some point, I'll poke you when we do. Your module has some good ideas that we may borrow if that's ok. seefooddiet (talk) 16:29, 2 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
