Hi selmo, are you going to continue the Anime mediation case? (ie writing the criticism section for the Anime entry) If not, I'll close it. Jsw663 10:55, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

September Esperanza Newsletter

[edit]
Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!
Appreciation Week, a program currently in development, now has its own subpage! Share your good ideas on how to make it awesome there!
The Esperanza front page has been redesigned! Many thanks to all who worked hard on it.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. The proposals page has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  2. Since the program in development Appretiaion week is getting lots of good ideas, it now has its own subpage.
  3. The September 2006 Council elections will open for nominations on 18 September 2006. The voting will run from 25 September 2006 until 30 September 2006. If you wish to be a candidate or a member of the elections staff, please list yourself!
  4. The new Esperanza front page design has but put up - many thanks to all who worked on it!
  5. TangoTango has written a script for a bot that will list new members of Esperanza, which will help those who welcome new Esperanzains greatly!

AMA

[edit]

Hi, I'm going to be your advocate. Could you give me an update on the situation... Addhoc 16:36, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply on my talk page, could you advise whether you currently require an advocate for this article. If so, I think I have to advise the mediation commitee. Addhoc 13:01, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, should I put the case on hold for now? Addhoc 16:14, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Peer review on checkmate

[edit]

Is there anything in particular that you are concerned about in checkmate for the peer review? Bubba73 (talk), 02:59, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mr. Lefty's RfA thanks

[edit]
Hi, Selmo, and thanks for supporting me in my recent request for adminship, which succeeded with a final tally of 70/4/4. I hope I can live up to your expectations, and if there's ever anything you need, you know where to find me! --Mr. Lefty Talk to me! 00:06, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject South Park

[edit]

Great you've joined up! Thanks for your agreement with the project since some articles need major cleanup, such as an article I made on Crab People. We also need to improve spelling on links to other pages and more high quality images. Thanks again. Below is a little template for the project I made quickly over the weekend.

Mr. Garrison

We have our own page! Wikipedia:WikiProject South Park. Be sure to list your name in the members section. Mr. Garrison 18:32, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Page Protection

[edit]

You're probably right. Well, anyway, we should all still keep our eyes pealed eh? Sorry for late reply but I've had school all day (plus a trampolining club for an hour). You're right as well about advertising. Anyway, I only advertised on people who like South Park. It was only because we didn't have many members. Hate to nag but if there are any comments could you please post them on the project's page. My bad-I didn't link you to the page. Try Wikipedia:WikiProject South Park. Thanks for replying, much appreciated. Can't wait for Make Love, Not Warcraft though being in the UK I have to wait until tomorrow when I can watch it on the YouTube video site. See you later, Mr. Garrison 17:02, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Disambiguation Talk Request

[edit]

This is a form message being sent to all WikiProject Disambiguation participants. I may have found your page based on your contributions or your link repair user box on your user page. If you are not a member, please consider including your name on the project page. I recently left a proposed banner idea on the WikiProject Disambiguation talk page and I would appreciate any input you could provide. Before it can be approved or denied, I would prefer a lot of feedback from multiple participants in the project. So if you have the time please join in the discussion to help improve the WikiProject. Keep up the good work in link repair and thanks for your time. Nehrams2020 23:17, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vancouver street signs

[edit]

Hi. In response to your comment on my talk page... I don't understand. The paragraph you say you removed wasn't removed. And if you don't like Flikr as a source, please read the Punjabi Market (Vancouver) article and note the image. (Same one I linked to via Flikr.) --Ds13 03:05, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the reply. There are probably additional CC-licensed images on Flikr with similar proof for Chinatown. But I can't imagine there being doubt on that fact. Cheers. --Ds13 03:45, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Selmo. Good idea on the Chinatown image. But I see two problems with it. It has been incorrectly tagged with a 2.5 CC attribution license when it's actually a 2.0 CC non-commercial attribution license. As Wikipedia:Image_copyright_tags#Non-free_Creative_Commons_licenses says, images with this license should not be uploaded. The extra non-commercial restriction the author gave it means it's not free enough for Wikipedia. Just wanted to give you the heads-up. It could be deleted. I may have made the same mistake myself with the Sam Sullivan image. --Ds13 07:35, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Portal

[edit]

Hi, I have made a brand new portal for your WikiProject! It can be found at Portal:Rapid transit. Unisouth 09:05, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Selmo. I was looking at your last mod of the {{Vancouverproject}}. I’m concerned that the text “This article has not yet been categorized.” may lead to some confusion. It seems to imply that there is a need to add cats to this article, and I think people may do exactly that. Of course, the cats are generated automatically by the tag, and we only want to have people add ratings.

Unless you're really keen on the idea, I’m going to take the text back out. Cheers.--Bookandcoffee 18:03, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

VandalProof error

[edit]

I have been a long-time VP user who just recently returned from wikibreak to find a new version has been released. I am having the same problem you described on the VP discussion page. If you found a solution, I would love to hear about it. -- ßottesiηi (talk) 21:37, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My bad

[edit]

I kinda snapped when it came to Halo2Nutter, if you can call it that. Given that he only did two edits related to Panic! at the Disco (and I am sooo tired of seeing vandalism on that page - what a great argument for making WP registered users only!), I guess you could see/understand why. At any rate, sorry about that, chief. --CJ Marsicano -- 02:45, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Karl Bunker

Project Rational Skepticism

[edit]

Dear Selmo, While I understand why you would want to see Project Rational Skepticism deleted it is an important part of the onging debate that is fundamental to Wikipedia. I personally take a pro-parapsychology POV, but within the wider process of Wikipedia I just wish to see fairness and accuracy. Sadly, some members of Wikipedia are closer to pathological skeptics than to those committed to the scientific method, but this makes it all the more important that those supportive of alternative and minority views try to nurture understanding and attempt to inform. I would suggest joining Project Paranormal or other project to help maintain fairness when unfounded attacks are made, in my experience they are common and often extremely dismissive. There are even those who would like to see all alternative views removed in favour of a mainstream scientific perspective only. This would be little more than a form of censorship, which would be a very sad day for the freedom that Wikipedia represents. If you would like to get involved let me know, Best wishes - Solar 11:03, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your bad faith nomination for deletion of Project Rational Skepticism does not bode well for your stated goal of becoming an administrator. We need administrators who don't make knee-jerk judgements such as this. Not even a peep from you on the talkpage -- you just MfDed without trying to get to know any of the people in the project. --ScienceApologist 15:19, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's good that you admitted you may have been hasty. More important than not making mistakes is being able to admit when you make a mistake. Good luck in everything and in the future, before you nominate an active article or project for deletion, try discussing it on the talkpages first. --ScienceApologist 17:16, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Half-Life WP

[edit]

I dunno. I'm not a big fan of the separate CVG projects, so I can't really say if a HL one is necessary. Although I probably would be willing to work on stuff. Thunderbrand 04:42, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oppenehimer Park

[edit]

Concise article, I wouldn't visit Oppenheimer park, driving by it safari style is enough for me.

AWB Bot Approval

I've removed your request from Wikipedia talk:AutoWikiBrowser/CheckPage. Feel free to post again once your bot is approved. Regards, Alphachimp 00:25, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

November Esperanza Newsletter

[edit]
Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.

Hi. If you don't mind, your temporary WikiProject page has been expanded, formatted and moved. I'm not sure if you intended to categorized this at , but I did unintentionally. Feel free to revert anything if there are disapprovals. Sorry if there is any trouble. Thanks. :) ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 18:33, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
