Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Sudipto Surjo, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Shuvro, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content protocols, and may not be retained. In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.

Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. If you are stuck, come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can help you through the processes.

New to Wikipedia? Please consider taking a look at the our introductory tutorial or reviewing the contributing to Wikipedia page to learn the basics about editing. Below are a few other good pages about article creation.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions ask me on my talk page or you can just type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome! Fiddle Faddle 13:03, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much, the article 'Shuvro' is an article about a famous character created Humayun Ahmed. Humayun Ahmed's Himu and Misir Ali already have their own wikipedia page. Shuvro, Himu and Misir Ali are the recurring characters created by Ahmed. Shuvro deserves its own article, and Toughpigs has most kindly fixed the issues, please review it again, you'll see all the issues are solved, citations are added, references are increased. I am hopeful that it will be removed from nominations for deletion.

The article Shuvro has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG. PROD added to give author a fighting chance to sort out referencing We require references from significant coverage about the topic of the article, and independent of it, and in WP:RS please. See WP:42. Please also see WP:PRIMARY which details the limited permitted usage of primary sources and WP:SELFPUB which has clear limitations on self published sources. Providing sufficient references, ideally one per fact referred to, that meet these tough criteria is likely to make this article survive (0.9 probability). Lack of them or an inability to find them is likely to mean that the topic is not suitable for inclusion, certainly today.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Nomination of Shuvro for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Shuvro is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Shuvro until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. ——Serial # 13:04, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The only defence to this is a solid set of referencing.
We require references from significant coverage about the topic of the article, and independent of it, and in WP:RS please. See WP:42. Please also see WP:PRIMARY which details the limited permitted usage of primary sources and WP:SELFPUB which has clear limitations on self published sources. Providing sufficient references, ideally one per fact referred to, that meet these tough criteria is likely to make this draft a clear acceptance (0.9 probability). Lack of them or an inability to find them is likely to mean that the topic is not suitable for inclusion, certainly today.
I have created one reference a few minutes ago, but it has limited value because it is a Primary Source.
When you have achieved the real, solid references you need then come to the deletion discussion and tell the discussion what you have achieved. Even then the consensus may be against you. Fiddle Faddle 15:28, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, such as at Talk:Shuvro, (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 16:14, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Sudipto Surjo, I'm afraid that some people have not been very kind to you here. You created an article about a worthwhile, interesting subject. I had never heard of Shuvro or even Humayun Ahmed before today, and now, thanks to you, I know more about Bengali literature than I did before. :) Please let me know if I can help you at any time. You can write on my talk page here, if you need me: User talk:Toughpigs. — Toughpigs (talk) 03:05, 5 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

How to sign talk pages

[edit]

Hello Sudipto Surjo, I want to show you how to sign talk page messages like this one. When you write a message, you type these four characters at the end: ~~~~

When you save your edit, those characters will automatically become your name and the date.

One more tip: When you reply to someone on a talk page, you should put a : before your post. That character indents the post, so that it's easier to tell where your comment begins. If you're responding to a post that is already indented with a : then you should add :: before your message. Let me know if you have any trouble.

I think that the Shuvro article is going to be fine; we have good sources now. The Articles for Deletion discussion will go on for about a week — that's always the way that they work, it doesn't mean that it's going badly. I wish you well. — Toughpigs (talk) 18:20, 5 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much, you have been very nice to me. And I'm pretty new to wikipedia, so your help is very valuable for me. Thank you! (I'm also hopeful for Shuvro, Thanks again!)

Always cite reliable sources

[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Worldbruce. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Wind of Change (Bangladeshi TV program), but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. Prince Mahmud moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Prince Mahmud, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Captain Calm (talk) 09:02, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you are doing a great work by adding references to the articles. Just keep in mind that we don't use citations or footnotes in the section headings as directed in MOS:HEADINGS. You can add some prose under the heading to cite sources at the articles. --Zayeem (talk) 17:45, 4 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Your recent edit to Rocket (disambiguation) appears to have added the name of a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person, organization or product added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Thank you. Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Feluda into Feluda (series). While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was moved, attribution is not required. — Diannaa (talk) 12:42, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Pilu Khan requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
