Engjs back edit warring

[edit]

Hi, sorry to trouble you, but Engjs/125.255.16.233 is back, and engaged in edit warring again on [[John Brignell]. He's (1) Inserted POV language, claiming that Brignell "demonstrated" fraud on the part of the UK government (2) When I tried to change this to "asserted", reverted me and accused me of vandalism (he's been warned on this point many times) (3) Sock-puppeteering using both his user name and IP address.

If you could respond, that would be great. JQ 05:48, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Wiki Pakistan Community

[edit]

Hi Pepsidrinka,

Firstly, just like to say your doing a good job creating alot of awareness of Pakistan through all these articles, especially your work on the main Pakistan article.

I was wondering if you have seen the following page, its a place where alot of people work as a team to progress and work together on articles and images of Wikipedia.

The Pakistani community for sometime has been very dormant, as there were not many people here to write articles related to Pakistan. If you go the following "Project page" you will see a new community has been formed, where I think alot of us should asign tasks and work more as a community than individually. Here's the link;

Wikipedia:Notice board for Pakistan-related topics. Do take a look at all the other communities the way they are working to improve articles and promote their communities.

I think its about time we all do the same. As you may notice everthing is just been laid out, so now its our turn to fill the gaps. Do pass the word on to other Pakistanis and people working on Pakistani articles.

Many thanks, Fast track 06:59 08 May 2006 (UTC)

Cheese

[edit]

You reverted that quickly because you saw it in the new edits bulletin. I made the text in the edit summary a link because I knew it would be red and would thus attract the eye. You like it? I do. But why did you revert it? It was not POV, it was NPOV—a proven, undisputed fact. By the way, do you like cheese? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 4.130.143.156 (talkcontribs) .

But British English is gay. It's a known fact. Saying that it is POV is like saying that Earth is a cube. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 4.130.143.156 (talkcontribs) .

VandalProof 1.2 Now Available

[edit]

After a lenghty, but much-needed Wikibreak, I'm happy to announce that version 1.2 of VandalProof is now available for download! Beyond fixing some of the most obnoxious bugs, like the persistent crash on start-up that many have experienced, version 1.2 also offers a wide variety of new features, including a stub-sorter, a global user whitelist and blacklist, navigational controls, and greater customization. You can find a full list of the new features here. While I believe this release to be a significant improvement over the last, it's nonetheless nowhere near the end of the line for VandalProof. Thanks to Rob Church, I now have an account on test.wikipedia.org with SysOp rights and have already been hard at work incorporating administrative tools into VandalProof, which I plan to make available in the near future. An example of one such SysOp tool that I'm working on incorporating is my simple history merge tool, which simplifies the process of performing history merges from one article into another. Anyway, if you haven't already, I'd encourage you to download and install version 1.2 and take it out for a test-drive. As always, your suggestions for improvement are always appreciated, and I hope that you will find this new version useful. Happy editing! --AmiDaniel (talk) 02:58, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The result of my RfA

[edit]

Thank you for taking the time to vote in Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/IanManka, which, despite your oppose vote, passed by a margin of 54/6/1.

Now, in your vote, you linked to the Wikipedia policy of WP:AGF. I was perplexed by this vote, as I found it mildly contradictory. If you were to assume good faith, one would think that you would disregard my IRC blunder, and voted to support me. Am I missing something here? I would greatly appreciate it if you would help me understand your vote, as I strive to improve from my downfalls.

You may be wondering by now why I am contacting almost a month after my RfA has closed. There are many reasons. First, I am hand-typing all of my responses to peoples' votes (save a few explanations which could be pasted in multiple responses) I thought this would be an easy task, but it proved to be diffucult and very time-consuming. Second, the FIFA World Cup coincided with the closure of my RfA, and distracted me enough to not respond to the people who voted in my RfA. Third, I also had some issues outside of Wikipedia that I needed to deal with. Last, I took my time so that those who opposed me could see what I have done with the admin tools since I got them. You can inspect my records for yourself: IanManka (talkcontribsblocksprotectsdeletionsmoves)

Thank you for spending time voting for my RfA, and if you see me doing something I shouldn't with my newly acquired tools, please feel free to let me know. Ian Manka Talk to me! 09:25, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your response. With this message, I am only trying to improve my editing techniques, as your worst reviews are often your best ways to improve, if that makes any sense. I respect your choice not to reveal your decisions, motivations, etc. with regards to your vote. Not knowing how the bulk of RfAs go, I didn't know that some editors harassed users for opposing, though I saw the same sort of thing when Rory096 opposed, and I assume this is what you mean. So, no problem about the vote, but maybe, in future votes, leave a quick note along the lines of Oppose, for reasons I'd like to keep to myself. I would hope that Wikipedians would respect this request, but then again, I could be assuming too much.

Thanks for the heads-up on the semi-protection I offered to a user page. I forgot to add a reminder to unprotect after 72 hours to my to do list, though that is no excuse. Thanks again for all the time you've put into this matter, and have a great day. Ian Manka Talk to me! 06:50, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted page

In the list of deleted pages, you deleted "arden Shibley". That's me, and I found on another page what it said. It was quite insulting, and I was wondering. Is there any way to find out who made the page?? Thanks, Ardo 01:38, 4 November 2006 (UTC) Try checking all logs. I went to deleted pages, and then searched all logs for the name "arden shibley". It says you deleted it. it could be wrong, or I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure. Thanks again, Ardo 02:42, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm. So I guess I *did* delete it; way back in April. Here is the log. I don't think I would be a good idea for me to tell you who created the page. Nothing personal, I just don't see the need to do so. Pepsidrinka 02:22, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The page was a personal attack against me.. I am also thinking it was by the same people who have been vandalising my page, "calgary science school", and many other pages. I attend the calgary science school, as well as the students who have been causing repetitive vandalism. Finding out who created the page will ensure that those students will be punished for their actions. I am not the one dealing with this, my vice principal is, Darrell Lonsberry. Gerald Ford protection

[edit]

I would appreciate it if you would not unprotect the Gerald Ford for at least a week or so because this has been a high-vandalism target since the former president's death. As Wikipedia policy (WP:SEMI) states: Other pages linked from the Main Page may be protected if under attack, though more leeway should be given with these than with most articles. This article has been hit more frequently that some of the featured articles of late, and I would think it would be appropriate not to unprotect the article for a while. Nishkid64 01:05, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going under the assumption that the users who want to actually seriously edit the article will be curious as to why they can't edit and wander to the talk page and ask there. Most IP edits have been vandalism, though. Another reason why I am requesting this is because it is a Featured Article, and through the various IP vandalism changes, it has been hard to track down the proper non-vandalized form of the page. Thanks. Nishkid64 01:07, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

blocked by corrupt administrator

[edit]

Hi.I don't think we've conversed before,but I was blocked by a corrupt administrator.

I don't ask to be unblocked. However, the reasons behind it are false. I accussed them of tag team edit warring and the result was blocked for "personal attacks" and "gross accusations". This same admin "Ramma's Arrow" also blocked user:Szhaider and provoked him into making personal attacks and gave him a week block. It's a little long if you ask me.

You see there are some Indian users that are very anti-Pakistan(NOT all of them). They edit war in tag teams meaning they don't have to worry about the 3RR because they revert the same article in groups.

In the articles such as Pakistani nationalism, they stick in anti-Pakistan sentiments and make it factual sounding.

An to prove that I never made "gross accusations" look at the history of the articles [here]. [here].

These are two of dozens of articles in which they tag-team edit war.The indus valley civilization is another one.

If we try to rescue the articles from their grip (if you check the history and the talk pages, they tag-team and personally attack anyone who disagrees)you'll see what I'm taking about. They literrally do control the articles due to their large numbers.

And because so many administrators are Indian(again not all of the Indian admins are like this),they have allinaces with other Indian users who share the same belif.

"Ramma's Arrow" also blocked user:Siddiqui for edit waring on Pakistani nationalism.Note:Siddiqui did not break the 3RR.Please also note that Ramma's arrow edit warred with user:Szhaider.

These biased admins take sides based on nationality and their common anti-Pakistan belifs with some of the Indian users.

When user:Siddiqui tried to rescue the articles from their grip when asking me and Szhaider for help,we were all accussed of "meatpuppetry" and "tag-teaming",when the accussers were doing exactly the same thing they accussed us of.And this is what gives them direct control over Pakistani related articles

All I ask you is to investigate wheather the blocks are justified. Many of these corrupt admins have given wikipedia a bad name all over the internet.Wikipedia has become well known for it's corrupt admins.

I'm not asking you to take sides with us or anything. If you check the history of the articles yourself, you'd know what I'm taking about.

I think a one week block is a bit long and I find this Ramma's Arrow another Indian nationalist. As I said not all of the Indian users are like this. But some of them are writing nonsense about us such as the "Christians in Pakistan" article, which was deleted upon my request of the articles they plan on writing as seen [here]. They are doing this to sterotype us as Islamic extremists.

Just make sure all of this is pointed out and brought to the attention of the rest of the non-South Asian admins.

I personally believe admins shouldn't be allowed intervine in issues related to their ethnicity or religion.

And if these users such as Bakaman(who has made so many racist comments against us on talkpages)can't have their way around, they get Indian admins to help them. I pointed out the root of the problem quite honestly because they were asking us for "discussion"(which we've had thousands of other times). So I pointed out the root of the problem with full honesty. Because I pointed this out,it was an attempt to silence me by blocking me.

If you agree this is unjustified, can you atleast bring it up with the other admins?

I thankyou for anything you can do about this.

Best regards.user:Nadirali.

I disagree completely with your decision to unprotect this page. Did you check the deleted revisions of the page? Makensen had to delete them twice because IP editors were posting a possible name for the shooter along with his contact details... I think the need to keep such controversial unconfirmed information off Wikipedia warrants the continued semi-protection of that talkapge. At the very least I think you should have discussed the matter with Mackensen before taking any action. WjBscribe 00:52, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An IP editor has again named someone (possibly still living if they are wrong) in connections with the shooting- different name from before. I have emailed for oversight of the revision in question and restored the semi-protection of the talkpage. WjBscribe 01:15, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see the deleted edits aren't at its present or last location - sorry, I see now why you saw no reason for the protection... Mackensen must have oversighted all of them. There were over 20 revisions that contained the name of a person and his email address, phone number, a photo etc, which was the information we are all keen to avoid having posted on the page... on draft picks

[edit]

A good deal of them are pretty much useless, true. They may or may not b notable, but in the shape they're in you could probably delete most of them. If you wish to handle some of the 2006 ones as well that would elp.--Wizardman 17:14, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There are a lot of non-notable players who have articles on the 2006 NFL Draft that probably shouldn't. We can save ourselves the trouble of creating articles now and deleting them later if we don't create them in the first place. However, I wouldn't go as far as to delete all of the players who currently have articles (cf. Marques Colston) in the 2007 Draft. Cheers! If you have any questions, please contact me at my talk page. Ian Manka 21:20, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Could you tell me specifically what is needed on 2001 NFL Draft, because I think it includes all the references for trades, so do you want me to change the way the references are cited? or is it something else? I just don't understand. Gman124 23:20, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I fixed all the references could take another look at the page and see if your comment has been satisfied. Gman124 02:40, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • I have fixed all the player positions, linked universities to their football pages, alphabetized the players by last name, and put whole team names for all round. Could you take another look to see if what you commented on has been satisfied. thanks. Gman124 23:51, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Onil Joseph

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Onil Joseph, by Tecmobowl, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Onil Joseph seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Onil Joseph, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Onil Joseph itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 07:16, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. Just to let you know that I unblocked the user above (blocked last year for username) as they posted a request to the unblock-en-l mailing list and their username was reviewed and found to be compliant with WP:U. I have since unblocked them. Just to let you know. Thanks - Alison 02:13, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AN comment about massive page moves

[edit]

I can start helping you revert some of those if, and only if, the person who committed al these page moves understands that the mass page moves were against consensus, because I wouldn't want to wheel-war 5 thousand page moves :/ So does this person know that or what? — Moe ε 18:45, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Do you mind if I go through it? My rollback for pagemoving seems to be fine and I could spend time doing it.. — Moe ε 18:54, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh lord, a block against consensus :/ Yeah, it does seem wrong to revert and make his edits go to waste, but I don't really see a way around that if they were wrong and against consensus. In the case of him fixing words that shouldn't be capitalized, well, if should be obvious whenever we come across one, so I don't see why we couldn't repair those simultaenously. For ones we miss, then well, it's going back to the revision that it was before at least :) — Moe ε 19:08, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What about pages like A. B. Brown? Do you think we should be moving those as well? I thought naming conventions leaned towards a space after every period? — Moe ε 20:10, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think I'm probably going to revert his changes just so the articles are consistant with the titles, which is what I was leaning towards before asking.. If I knew a person's name was to include the space or not, I will make sure it's corrected, but I don't know most of the subject to make that judgement, and I trust that the other editors before Koav were making these chnages correctly.
Yeah, I'm surprised too, but I've pretty much convinced myself (and turned down maybe 4-5 nominations; from admins no less), that I won't run for adminship until maybe October or sometime later, it's quite a painful process. — Moe ε 20:23, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Since he moved the AFL-NFL merging article twice, I can't competely revert it. If you could take of that one, that would be great. — Moe ε 23:37, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Pepsidrinka. :) — Moe ε 00:01, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

Thanks for moving the articles requested on the talk page at Talk:1968-69 WCHL season. I went through and reverted all of the NHL seasons (over 100, including it's predecessor, oy), but can't move 1999-2000 National Hockey League season back to 1999-2000 NHL season as it has been moved a few times already due to the theory that people aren't smart enough to figure out that "1999-00" means 1999-2000 rather than 1999-1900. If you could complete that move for me, it would be most appreciated. Resolute 01:26, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think I've addressed your concerns in the FLC. Take a look when you get the chance. Geraldk 18:38, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

page delete question

[edit]

Hi there, I hope this is the correct way to contact you. I am new to wikipedia, and I'm trying to expand on some of the comedy (mostly improv and sketch) articles. I want to create a couple articles about theatres relevant to this subject, as well as groups, individuals, etc. as the history of improvisational theatre is not very represented on Wikipedia. I was just going to create an article for Ultimate Improv a theatre in Los Angeles, and saw that you had deleted a previous article - so I thought I would check with you and see why the previous article was removed. User: Reed.jacob 25 October 2007

thanks

[edit]

Cool, thanks for getting back to me. That theatre has had some notable alumni, a couple other troupes came out of there, as well as a few people at Boom Chicago, and MADtv. I'll go ahead and put it back up (with additions to show why it is notable) as soon as I can. Thanks again! Reed.jacob 09:39, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There have been a series of proposals to initiate a Featured List of the Day on the main page. Numerous proposals have been put forth. After the third one failed, I audited all WP:FL's in order to begin an experiment in my own user space that will hopefully get it going. Today, it commences at WP:LOTD. Afterwards I created my experimental page, a new proposal was set forth to do a featured list that is strikingly similar to my own which is to do a user page experimental featured list, but no format has been confirmed and mechanism set in place. I continue to be willing to do the experiment myself and with this posting it commences. Please submit any list that you would like to have considered for list of the day in the month of January 2008 by the end of this month to WP:LOTD and its subpages. You may submit multiple lists for consideration.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:LOTD) 21:45, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article Butler Elementary School (Springfield, Illinois), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Butler Elementary School (Arlington, Texas)

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Butler Elementary School (Arlington, Texas), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 15:18, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

An article you created maybe deleted soon: Tools which can help you

[edit]

The article you created, Onil_Joseph maybe deleted from Wikipedia.

There is an ongoing debate about whether your article should be deleted here:

The faster your respond, the better chance the article you created can be saved. This is because deletion debates only stay open for a few days, and the first comments are usually the most important.

There are several tools and other editors who can help you keep the page from being deleted forever:

  1. You can list the page up for deletion on Article Rescue Squadron. If you need help listing your page, add a comment on the Article Rescue Squadron talk page.
  2. You can request a mentor to help explain to you all of the complex rules that editors use to get a page deleted, here: Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User. But don't wait for a mentor to respond on the deletion page.
  3. When try to delete a page, veteran editors love to use a lot of rule acronyms. Don't let these acronyms intimidate you.
Here is a list of your own acronyms you can use yourself: WP:Deletion debate acronyms which may support the page you created being kept.
Acronyms in deletion debates are sometimes incorrectly used, or ignore rules or exceptions.
  4. You can merge the article into a larger or better established article on the same topic.

If your page is deleted, you still have many options available. Good luck! travb (talk) 09:47, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Suspension of admin privileges due to inactivity

[edit]

Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative privileges of users who have been inactive for one year, meaning administrators who have made neither any edits nor any logged actions in over one year. As a result of this discussion, your administrative privileges have been removed pending your return. If you wish to have these privileges reinstated, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts. RL0919 (talk) 22:14, 9 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of change

[edit]

Hello. You are receiving this message because of a recent change to the administrator policy that alters what you were told at the time of your desysopping. The effect of the change is that if you are inactive for a continuous three year period, you will be unable to request return of the administrative user right. This includes inactive time prior to your desysopping if you were desysopped for inactivity and inactive time prior to the change in policy. Inactivity is defined as the absence of edits or logged actions. Until such time as you have been inactive for three years, you may request return of the tools at the bureaucrats' noticeboard. After you have been inactive for three years, you may seek return of the tools only through WP:RFA. Thank you. MBisanz talk 00:20, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned map.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
