AFD process

[edit]

Hi Raghu, I've just noticed that you've listed Mandodi Kannan for AFD. However, you've completed only the first two steps of the AFD process and not the third. I've done it this time. Please see Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion#How_to_list_pages_for_deletion for a better idea. --Gurubrahma 13:15, 12 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hey! it seems that there is no article related to traditional horse carriages which were used in many parts of india. I think they were referred as "tanga" and also Victorias or Baggies used by the princely maharajas. Can you create an article on that. Since long I am not able to create any new articles. Thanks and Regards.

Kerala Map

[edit]

Hi, I noticed that the Kerala map that you put in the Kerala page has been removed and you have copied the contends to your sandbox. I liked the colouring scheme that you used in that map, but the boundaries of the states in your map are not accurate. In case you plan to work on the map more you could use the previous map as the base map(which shows the boundaries accurately). Thanks and Regards. --Raghu 19:06, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I did (partially) use Nichalp's map as my base. If you could point out my boundary errors (compared to Nichalp's map), that'd be great. Thanks. Saravask 19:24, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lets bring all Kerala Wikipedians under one list

[edit]

Hello! I've created a template Template:User KERALA wiki as well as a category, Category:Kerala_Wikipedians in an effort to bring together all the Kerala Wikipedians. I believe there are no such existing categories. So, please add either the template (which will automatically add the category) or the category to your userpage. Thanks! thunderboltz 06:01, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Pollachi

[edit]

Hi there. I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Pollachi, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Importance). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree, discuss the issues raised at Talk:Pollachi. If you remove the {{dated prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. This is a message to all Category:Kerala Wikipedians

I want your opinion on this particular person Pradip Somasundaran. He claims to be a famous singer in Kerala. Now being a Malayalee, I have not heard of this person before, so I wonder whether or not you have heard of him before and set this issue straight. If so, then please let your opinion be counted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pradip Somasundaran. Please note that by voicing your opinion as a Malayalee/Keralite will add more weight to your words.

Many Thanks --Ageo020 21:42, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Raghu, is there a possibility of giving this some coverage on the ml wiki ? Shyamal 04:17, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Shyamal. My first response was to give a note to User talk:En-praveenp since he had done a lot of articles in ml wiki, but I noticed that you have already left a note there. I am not very good at reading and writing Malayalam though I have contributed a few edits in ml with great difficulty. I will try to put a basic article this weekend if I get time.--Raghu 14:01, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Malayalee

[edit]

Hello,

There's a problem in the Malayalee article. The points of contention are the following:

  • Dayaanjali doesn't want the article to mention that marumakkathayam (matrilineality/matrifocality) were practiced by the Nairs. i.e., as a community, Nairs were known to be matrifocal/matrilineal, and a martial class.
  • Dayaanjali insists the the words "Malayali" comes from the Malayalam words Malai and Aali. Historically, the region has been known as Malayalam before the genesis of the Malayalam language. Hence, the words probably originated from old Tamil. He also seems to think that Malayalam originated independently of Tamil, whereas (facts aside) all linguists state that Malayalam split off from Tamil about 800 AD or 900 AD.

Since you are active in Kerala-related articles, I request you to take a look at this matter. Dayaanjali seems unwilling to discuss changes in the talk page. Initially we had a discussion. I provided references to support my points. After this, he has refused to discuss the points, claiming that my edits are "unverified". The discussion is here. --vi5in[talk] 06:43, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I firmly believe that Malayalam developed independently having more influence from Tamil. Having said that, the language has similarities with other languages in south india. It has loaned words from sanskrit and many foriegn languages. Its grammatic styles are similar to Tamil. Script is more similar to Tulu Script. Even then You cannot call it new language. The people of malabar cost was using languague which was different from Tamil even during Sangam period, though part of same kingdoms as that of present day Tamil Nadu. The people are different, the culture is different, the script is different. The words Mala and ali are there in many languages in south india and foreign languages like Sinhala, Thai etc. Its not known where the words come any paryicular language. And about customs of Nair cast, its not specific to nairs. More than that this is not the article that you can list out all the customs and tradition of aparticular community. You have a separate article where you can add details.

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:33, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
