Collapse by default?

[edit]

Am I mistaken in thinking we usually have boxes like this default to collapsed? Uncollapsed it seems to take up rather a lot of space on the page. Tim riley talk 14:53, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Generally, navigation boxes are set to "autocollapse". If they overwhelm short articles, they can be set to "collapsed". Conversely, if they appear collapsed because of other navboxes in a long article where navigation between Ravel's articles is important, they can be set to "expanded". I think that setting the state of almost any navbox to "collapsed" is a disservice. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 01:08, 6 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
