Geography

[edit]

Big White and Phoenix are in the Monashee Mountains, not the Okanagan Highland, which is delimited by the West Kettle River, which is on the west side of Big White; Phoenix is clearly in the Monashees, even though an argument can be made that Big White is on the boundary. Also the usage "South-Central British Columbia" if it stays is an alternative to the government's branding "Thompson Okanagan", although unlike the completely fictitious "Kootenay Rockies" tag it does have currency historically in BC; so "Ski resorts of the Thompson-Okanagan" makes sense for what's here currently .... well actually given Phoenix the title should really be "Ski resorts of the Thompson, Okanagan and Boundary"; provided that there isn't one in the Shuswap I don't know about. "South Central" theoretically includes Manning/Allison Pass, too 'yknkow, and really also includes Red Mountain. Please see my notes at Template talk:Ski resorts in the Canadian Rockies on various template compositions; I think it's easier just to do the whole of BC in one fell swoop; not that Smithers, Powder King and Troll have all that much company farther north.....Skookum1 (talk) 13:41, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"South-Central" is a really inapt and difficult term; if the context is "Central Interior" and "Southern Interior" then it behooves the template to include Troll and also the hills(s) in Prince George and elsewherre in the Central Interior; "South-Central British Columbia" shoudl not be used as a substitute for "Southern Interior".Skookum1 (talk) 15:19, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also in Central BC/Central Interior:

No time just at present to add them to this template but I have to stress that southern-BC perspectives of what's "Central" do not apply northwards, where they consider themselves "Central". The easiest solution herer {{Ski resorts in the Interior of British Columbia}}, which could include Smithers and Manning Park.Skookum1 (talk) 16:17, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, there's also Little Mac Ski Hill at Mackenzie, British Columbia, Bear Mountain ski area near Dawson Creek, and Murray Ridge Ski Hill near Fort St. James, plus Shames Mountain at Terrace, which ain't exactly Interior of course. Are there others?Skookum1 (talk) 16:48, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
