Seconds after I created this page, it was tagged by CorenSearchBot as having copyright issues with this link. However, I have found that the link is probably mirroring 2014 North Indian Ocean cyclone season. Also, I have been using the same style as the previous North Indian Ocean cyclone seasons (such as 2014). As creator of the page, I believe copyright infringement has not occurred and thus ask for permission for the copyright violation tag (Template:Csb-pageincludes) to be removed. Thank you. KN2731 (talk) 09:07, 2 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@KN2731: You shouldn't have even created the page yet. According to Juliancolton, we only create the cyclone page when seasonal summary forecasts are issued or when the first storm forms. I will remove all the content on the page and put a redirect here. 73.223.175.207 (talk) 09:16, 2 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@73.223.175.207: OK sorry, I was unaware of this discussion. KN2731 (talk) 09:20, 2 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

BOB 04?

[edit]

Is it just me, or that in the IMD site, it says "BOB-04/2016"? Is this a typo? Or missing systems? Typhoon2013 (talk) 07:03, 18 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I think IMD accidentally put the bulletin number instead of the system identifier—it now says "BOB-06/2016" after issuing bulletin 6. So it should be a typo. ~ KN2731 {talk} 13:25, 18 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That is not a typo to me. It should be a failure of their design. -- Meow 01:26, 19 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

No one's editing?

[edit]

@Jason Rees: @Meow: @Jasper Deng: According to the "View history" box, most of the recent editors are anon users. From them, without a source ofc, they have stated that there are now 7 systems, which ARB01 became Kyant (???). Pretty much users like us has stopped on editing on the Nio articles and not checking the IMD site lately. What do we do now? Do we continue making articles like these? PS I haven't edited this basin for a while now therefore you may see what these anon users have done so far. Typhoon2013 (talk) 03:11, 18 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Done. -- Meow 04:47, 18 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Now we're not sure which system was BOB 02 with the new depression, as of October 21st, is marked as BOB 03. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:245:8101:E2F0:FD65:26CA:A987:A7AD (talk) 05:30, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Designation

[edit]

Just pinging @Meow: @Supportstorm: and @Keith Edkins: for this. So we now have a real system right now active, which is BOB 03. Though the designation has skipped "BOB 02". Are one of the two unnumbered systems are BOB 02? Or is there a missing system due to lack of editing (see section above)? Or another mistake like what happened to the FMS in 2014-15 season. Typhoon2013 (talk) 06:18, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

So the other one should be LAND XX. -- Meow 07:14, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ya, I would guess the depression that made landfall over Bangladesh was BOB02. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:245:8101:E2F0:FD65:26CA:A987:A7AD (talk) 07:29, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Meow: Yes, it should be. But which one though? Is it the Aug09 system or Aug16 system? What do you think Meow? Typhoon2013 (talk) 20:42, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have made a consideration that the Aug16 system was BOB 02. This is due to the fact that the other system (formed on Aug09) developed over/very close to land. It even stated "intensified into a DD overland Bangladesh". Also the system that formed on Aug16 clearly formed over water, therefore this is BOB 02, while the Aug09 system is a Land Depression. But of course, just in case, we still need to confirm. Typhoon2013 (talk) 21:57, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There is still no proof to confirm as IMD has not released either preliminary reports or best track data to them. -- Meow 04:35, 22 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Just a consideration. Let's just wait until next year for a BT Data from IMD. But I'll leave it for now. Typhoon2013 (talk) 06:39, 22 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

System(s) upgrades/downgrades in Talk section

[edit]

So we don't make notes when a system has been downgraded anymore here? (My note of Kyant being a deep depression was removed) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:245:8101:E2F0:A462:5C5C:1905:C755 (talk) 20:41, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Vardah / ARB 02

[edit]

Aren't Cyclone Vardah and Depression ARB 02 the same storm? Evem their track maps are lumped together continuously on the same image. ABC paulista (talk) 14:41, 17 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm glad you asked that! For the moment, as IMD are the lead authority in this basin and they have given it a new designation, I am archiving the bulletins as a separate system. However since Meow (talk) is producing a merged track map I have used this for the ARB 02 section of the main article, as well as for Vardah. If ARB 02 strengthens to a storm we will see whether IMD assign a fresh name, and proceed accordingly. I can't see any precedent for traceability from a designated B system to an A one.--Keith Edkins ( Talk ) 15:47, 17 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It is definitely not a merged track map. The track data is from JTWC and the center considers Vardah and ARB 02 as the same system (05B.Vardah). The reason why IMD designated ARB 02 is that Vardah has officially dissipated as IMD downgraded it into a low-pressure area on 13 December. -- Meow 16:16, 17 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

:The situation is now more complicated as JTWC is to reissue a warning on 05B before 09:00 UTC. -- Meow 06:39, 18 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

When the system first had a Dvorak intensity of 1.0 reading on the website, The satellite bulletin description stated "Vortex(Vardah)" - Grifforzer — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:245:8101:E2F0:95AA:F485:33FB:34A4 (talk) 19:10, 18 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Don't be rude to Nada and BOB 04 as well?? (*wink wink*) :) Typhoon2013 (talk) 10:45, 21 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nada + BOB04 track??

[edit]

Season has ended and any tracks for Nada and BOB 04? Typhoon2013 (talk) 05:23, 23 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Supportstorm: Probably busy sorry but if I can request tracks for those systems? Thank you so much. Typhoon2013 (talk) 05:52, 15 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

IMD Best Track

[edit]

Taking a look at the IMD best track for 2016, it appears that what we currently refer to as "Land Depression 01" is actually "Land Depression 02". In the best track, LAND 01 was a depression over Madhya Pradesh on July 6-7.

Does anyone else have any additional information about this storm? It seems not to be mentioned in the article at the moment. — Iunetalk 20:09, 17 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
