Should we mention the Tricon and Global Icon awards?

[edit]

During the 2020 and 2021 VMAs, no one received the Video Vanguard Award, but Lady Gaga and the Foo Fighters won awards that were comparable (Tricon and Global Icon, respectively). Obviously, these awards are not exactly the same as the Video Vanguard since the name is different, but both artists performed medleys similar to that of a Video Vanguard Award medley and gave speeches signifying that it was a career milestone on the same level as the Vanguard. Should we mention this information somewhere on the page– perhaps in the first section instead of in the Recipient table? I believe if we included this, it would provide useful context to readers on why MTV didn't give anyone the Video Vanguard Award during those years. -- Damage Ensues (talk) 16:50, 29 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
