Mini-puff

[edit]

A graduate of the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University, Michael Kranish joined the Globe in 1984.

I'm not a fan of this sentence construction. Even in this instance, which is fairly sedate, there's a vague hint of puffery which I do not find encyclopedic in tone. For one thing, this could be artfully papering over a gap, while leaving a strong impression on the careless reader that the two events were closely conjoined. — MaxEnt 14:48, 3 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
