Name

Why is it named so? Is it the Communist revolution? A citation would be helpful for that too. 78.32.195.249 (talk) 20:25, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it was named after the Russian October Revolution of 1917. --Bejnar (talk) 23:01, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Not helpful enough. I came to find out how and when they decided to name it that. The October Revolution, as stated above, as in 1917. The article claims the island was discovered in 1913. Which means it could not have been named October Revolution when it was discovered. So what was it named when discovered? What was it called from 1913-1917? And then, with all the important stuff going on in Russia during and stemming from the revolution, what would make them decide it was important enough to go back and rename this obscure island?
