Feels like an advertisement

{{warning-for-removal}}

This whole article sounds like an advertisement or bio-sheet, with very heavy bias. "has been a force", "leveraged his creativity", "most successful sound-tracks of all time." Joecollege7 (talk) 17:17, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I'm curious why "Hit and Run" by Giffens and Masters is not mentioned. The existence of this book indicates that there might be at least some controversy over his handling of Columbia Pictures worth mentioning. As it stands in this article, the fellow never did anything questionable or controversial, never got fired or dismissed, has no enemies or detractors. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.228.84.131 (talk) 08:30, 19 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I tried to clean it up by minimizing the hyperbole. So what happened? It got tagged for vandalism and was reverted. Go figure. I guess Wikipedia wants a press release, and not a true biography. YingYang2 (talk) 05:17, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, this is clearly written by Guber's assistant or simply copied from his official biography. How can we tag this to get moderator's attention? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Indyazla (talkcontribs) 19:04, 29 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. No mention of 'Hit and Run: How Jon Peters and Peter Guber Took Sony for a Ride in Hollywood' by Nancy Griffin and Kim Masters, and zero mentions of Jon Peters, Guber's former partner. What gives? 63.80.61.178 (talk) 22:33, 2 December 2010 (UTC) (Sorry, wasn't logged in.) Jaxong (talk) 22:35, 2 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Just watched him on Tavis Smiley. He made at least 6 wordplay turns of phrase ("You have to get their a-ttention before you can get their in-tention"). I tend to be leery of people who use too many canned clever turns of phrase. They tend to be con men. So, I logged onto the net to Google him, and came across this Wikipedia entry. Seems this entry is also subject to his flattering charm.

Restoring material

[edit]

I just returned to this article for the first time in a while and noticed that almost all information that might place Guber in a critical light has ben removed. In particular, one single-issue editor appears to have gone through and removed any material from "Hit and Run," the disagreement as to whether or not he resigned or was fired from Sony, criticisms of his producing by Spielberg, etc. Does anyone want to make an argument as to why this material should not be restored?
