[edit]

Outline

Separating sections: Birth and family, Career, Death

Early Life Peter Irving was born October 30, 1771. In his family he had seven brothers and sisters, William, John, Ebenezer, Washington, Catherine, Ann and Sarah. They grew up in New York in a small two-story house, with a store that occupied the front room of the house. They attended a brick church that the children followed and sat with the parents every morning. Peter and his brother, Washington, were very close throughout their lives and they did many things together.

Career Peter Irving started his life with a concentration in medicine. Later on, he renounced medicine and became the editor of a paper in New York, The Morning Herald. His brother Washington helped with the paper as well. This paper advocated Burr's claims to presidency. He then served in the New York state assembly as a Vice- President from 1802-1803 and also served on the city Artilley as a Captain.

Death He died on June 27, 1838. He was able to spend some of his last days with brother Washington, but he did end up dying at his sisters house on Jefferson street. It is said that he died of tuberculosis, he is buried at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
