Complexity of opening

[edit]

I find the opening sentence and much of the article overly complicated for a couple of reasons. The language appears to assume much specialized learning on the reader, and the extension of the sentence makes it unclear what things are key. For instance, "normally found" "often created" are obviously going to require clarification as they are not absolutes, and are distractions from the core of the entity that is "Prohormone". Be as distinct to the item as possible, don't run "asides," even if they are good information, something that happens in the opening sentence of the "Structure" section. It is easier for an average reader to absorb two sentences on two different topics. Leave the other topic for a completely different sentence, and you'll have more framing room to refine each. Finally, thanks to the author/s, and the curators for their efforts so far. I hope this helps! 98.102.246.42 (talk) 16:52, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest the following opening paragraph with the rest of the information added in the remaining relevant sections:
Prohormones are a number of complex chemical chains produced by hormone-forming cells during the process of hormone biosynthesis. Prohormones are known as precursors, because they are found and expected to exist in certain living tissues as a step to the creation of other complex chains called hormones. They exhibit only minimal or no hormonal effects without further transformation. Cells which create prohormone may eject prohormones into tissues or the blood stream, or may contain the prohormone as it forms into a completed hormone.
