Is this just nonsense or what?

It isn't "just" nonsense. Let me turn this into a stub. --Pc13 13:15, 28 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Discography

Can someone check my formatting on the discography, it's the first one I've tried from scratch :) drewheasman

Name

[edit]

Can someone confirm if his name is a play on the French word for "bird", "oiseau". Jr78 04:09, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A german VJane once pronounced it "oaso", just like the french "oiseau", while everybody around me used to say "oiso" until then, so your assumption is probably right. 213.166.51.118 21:42, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

His new track, "Intra", on Ed Rec Vol. II has a pronunciation of Oizo in it. PlazzTT 22:59, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's really obvious he means bird by his name. (oizo -> un oiseau -> bird) and besides: Flat Eric is a turkey right? Thomas271104 00:59, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pronounciation

[edit]

I don't understand why the phonetic of "Mr." is translated in "Monsieur" (french of Mister), the "Mr." notation doesn't exist in french, it would have been "M." if it referenced "Monsieur". In France, I've always heard "Mister Oizo" not "Monsieur Oizo". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.49.5.68 (talk) 13:19, 18 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Done Removed it as contested and unsourced. Paradoctor (talk) 08:08, 20 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to restore the pronunciation of at least Oizo based on the source I found http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/features/101632-interview-quentin-mr-oizo-dupieux-cant-do-wrong . It doesn't clarify the "Mr." part, but I think it is reliable enough for citation to keep French: [waˈzo]. I hope thats okay :) HuggaBounce (talk) 15:14, 15 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Not monsieur (M) but mister (Mr.)

[edit]

It's unclear to me what the above was supposed to address or solve, but in this article, Mr. Oizo is erroneously phoneticized into məsjø wazo. The (American English) Mr. abbreviation does not exist in French (https://www.capital.fr/votre-carriere/comment-abreger-monsieur-1229852 / https://www.projet-voltaire.fr/regles-orthographe/m-ou-mr-mm-ou-mrs/), so it should be read here as a barbarism and pronounced "mister", or, being a French moniker, written phonetically as "mɪstɛːʁ". The abovementioned sources state that the abbreviation for monsieur is M. (including the dot). I say remove the "monsieur" / məsjø. 2A02:A454:AE93:1:30:162D:1615:1826 (talk) 20:10, 3 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Changed møsjø back to mɪstɛːʁ. Again. If changed, please note with which arguments. 2A02:A454:AE93:1:7176:D68B:6BDA:23F9 (talk) 12:02, 25 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Analog Worms is Trip Hop?

[edit]

Just checked the definition of Trip Hop, and if DJ Shadow is Trip Hop then it might even be true. But the idea never occured to me until now. 213.166.51.118 21:50, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Facts about commercials

[edit]

Can someone confirm if Flat Eric mentioned here ever "travelled shotgun in a pickup truck" as said in the article? White Mage Cid 12:28, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Video is on youtube. I don't see any shotguns. 84.250.204.83 22:37, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Travelled shotgun" is slang for riding in the passenger's seat. Orangekubrick (talk) 19:02, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pretty sure it's always been in the same Chevy coupe in the Levi's ads. Chevelle 71 or 72. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Chevelle

Rage remix

[edit]

I have removed the RATM mix from the remixes section as Mr Oizo didn't remix this song.

The remix was by sebastiAn and was spread on the web and on p2p networks as the Mr Oizo remix Mosdefau2 (talk) 09:00, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposal for a page name change

[edit]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I noticed that on the French wiki page of Quentin Dupieux that the name of the page wasn't Mr. Oizo. Outside today, Dupieux makes many more films than before and leaves aside his musical career. Following the change in the type of the infobox, I ask you to see if it was possible to change the name of the wiki page by switching from Mr. Oizo to Quentin Dupieux.

Sincerely, 92.154.171.24 (talk), 15:32, September 10, 2020

Support. I have suggested this on Dutch Wikipedia last week as well. If both careers are about as large the real name should take precedence. - FakirNL (talk) 20:11, 7 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nobody really picking up on this? I still think it's a good idea though! - FakirNL (talk) 09:46, 25 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Support. Considering his increasingly successful film directing career, his real name should be used. E Con211 (talk) 11:59, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Went ahead and went through with this since it seems fairly uncontroversial. Kirby Macintosh (talk) 17:34, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
