Not neutral

[edit]

A paragraph says: "An area of 200,000 km2 (77,000 sq mi) of hitherto disputed territory in the Maynas region of the Amazonian basin was awarded to Peru, which had been established to be the de facto possessor of the land since the end of the 19th century" however this statement is false, an urban legend planted by Ecuador since the last century. The territory of Maynas was awarded to the Viceroyalty of Peru by the Spanish Crown through a "Real Cédula" of 1802[1].

Even the Libertador Simon Bolivar said in a letter to General Santander: "Maynas pertenece al Perú por una real orden muy moderna y que también está ocupada por fuerzas del Perú" (Maynas belongs to Peru by a very modern royal order and that is also occupied by Peruvian forces).[2]

I hope that this paragraph becomes neutral and the victimist bulo of Ecuador is not repeated. Thanks, Marco M (messages) 01:25, 31 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
