Its not quite ready, but jump right in if you can get the hang of the wiki markup language. I'll let you know when I've roughed it out a bit. If you work on the text of the article, I can tidy up the references....

I've got to get back to my real job...LOL! I don't think your article is quite ready to be submitted. Please feel free to get in there and make it even better and get it to sound like its from an encyclopedia...that is what we are writing. This is going to be a great article when we get it all done. I'll be back in a day or so. Its looking pretty good....

Make sure you have not copy and pasted content from another website into this draft. That is a copyright violation and both of us will 'be in trouble' if this is the case. You have to be sure that the article is written in your own words or it will get deleted incredibly fast. Reviewers can easily detect word-for-word cutting and pasting of content from other sources, I find it all the time.

As soon as you are happy with the text and flow of the article let me know. It may not be common knowledge among newer editors like yourself but there is a much quicker way to get your article 'live' and part of mainspace while at the same time making sure that it meets the requirements of notability and as long there are not any copyright issues.

Your article looks good to go. Once it is in main space or 'officially' an article instead of a draft, I can tidy up the references. Let me know how you want to submit it because you actually have several options.

LOL! So firemen do have a sense of humor. I am going to tell you how I submit a new article to main space. This procedure is not recommended for people who have written their first article, but this wouldn't necessarily apply to you since you've been getting so much help from others in the drafting of the article and I can tell you a lot of people have already taken a look at it.
The first thing that I do to get an article into main space is to click on the search box in the upper right-hand corner of any page on Wikipedia. I know this doesn't sound like it makes sense at this time, but you will see how this works. The second thing that I do is that I type in the name of my new article. In your case you would type in the words The Stentorians and click the search button. This does two things at the same time. First of all, it lets you know whether or not there is an article that already exists on Wikipedia with the exact same name. This really is an important first step. If there is an article with this exact same name, you probably will have to rename your article. I have already taken a look and there is another article about a rock band with the same name. It is not exactly the same name which is fortunate for you.
After you have searched for an article with the exact same name as yours, you will get a search page filled with results that Wikipedia thinks that you might be looking for. Under the blue rectangular box that indicates all the places where Wikipedia has searched for an article with your name, you will see this sentence:
"You may create the page "The Stentorians", but consider checking the search results below to see whether the topic is already covered."
At this point, click on the red letters "The Stentorians". You will then be taken to a page that will allow you to create the article in main space. The first thing that you will put in the blank editing window is this template: {{newpage}}. This will create a template or announcement that will alert the first person to see your article in mainspace that your article is new, and that it may not have reached perfection yet. Do not exit out of this browser window.
Then open another browser window and go to your draft. Click the edit tab (like you've been doing) to open the edit window to display all the text and wiki-markup language. Highlight ALL the text in the edit window and copy it. Go to the other browser window where you are going to paste all of the text of your draft and paste it all into the blank edit window. Go down to the bottom of the edit window and click preview to see if you it looks like the article is there to see. At this point you will also see the new page template which will delay the speedy deletion that some other editor thinks that your article might deserve (it won't be deleted.). In the edit summary window, type in the words new page or yipee or wow I made my first article or anything else that you want.
The big moment - Click "Save" and your article is live. You can continue to edit it as long as you want. Others will probably join in and help you out eventually. Congratulations! I hope you consider creating other articles because it looks like something that you will be very good at. I can also come alongside of you to help you with other topics in which you have interest. I'll be looking for your live article. After it goes live, just go to your draft, open the edit window and delete it. I recommend that you keep a copy of your article on your own computer along with all the complicated wiki-markup language so that if for some reason it gets lost somewhere in wikiland, you will still have it. Lede

One of the things that you ought to address is the content of the lede. None of the sentences in the lede currently mention the word "Stentorians". Normally the first sentence of the lede woould begin with a description starting: "The Stentorians were ...", and the rest of the lede would give a brief summary of the later content of the article. The central ave corridor which anchored both fire companies from the mid 20's during the growth south to Slauson of the black community, is an integral part of the stentorians story. Just announcing "the stentorians were created during a racial ruckus in the fire dept" smacks of making the group heros of integration, and not the 'civil' servants who sneaked in cameras to record 'white adult only' signs on kitchen doors. These were conservative men who didn't look for physical confrontations but were able to keep their heads when confronted with violence and overt racism. So keep central ave and the media of the day party to the formation of the stentorians, I have to spend a few reads looking at that before I can formulate a new heading. More work on this article

I've accepted this article at AfC, but more work needs to be done to improve the article. Currently, there are very few references for the quantity of text in this article. Some sections and paragraphs have completely no references and sources to verify the information. Please contribute to this page by fixing this problem. Thanks!
