Company name

[edit]

This is Tecno Soft (Tecno-Soft, or even TecnoSoft) -- but NOT Technosoft. Where does that urban legend come from? Kaminari 12:23, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Urban legend"? Don't be too quick to judge.
It was the official name on some of their products, for example I'm pretty sure the original arcade release of Hyper Duel was branded with "Technosoft" and certain games use the spelling during that game's opening. At the least the MAME project has a reason to give both their own sections (like with "Eighting" and "8ing", though technically this is a different case; the former is the official spelling of the later and they are used together on many products). I get the feeling "Technosoft" is used to avoid particular copyright infringements in certain places and markets.
Now here's the thing; doing a Google search on "Tecno Soft" takes me right to the "Technosoft" results, because "Tecno Soft" has none! Nearly every game website uses "Technosoft" regardless of what's on the package, which gives me reason to believe that "Technosoft" is seen more often in the game itself. Honestly, I think Tecno Soft would be better because of this (since the original Thunder Force seems to have "TECNO SOFT" on the title screen), however I need to do some research (if I can find more games branded "Tecno Soft" over "Technosoft"). I just took a look: Technosoft is the term used on western releases. Also, Hyper Duel has "Technosoft" in the opening despite its Japanese-only release (but "Tecno Soft" is on the packaging); on the Saturn version, the Tecno Soft logo pops up but immediately afterward says "TECHNOSOFT PRESENTS", then intro. Let's just keep it at is. Elm-39 - T/C/N 20:26, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I was looking for the US company Technosoft and found this instead. Following the above discussion I think it should be mentioned that there is a US Software company named TechnoSoft founded in 1992. [1] 82.99.28.5 (talk) 08:23, 4 August 2020 (UTC)Petter.[reply]

TechnosoftTecno Soft — Seems the company's name is properly "Tecno Soft". Not sure what to do about this. AliceSKD (talk) 02:15, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
