Joe or Joel Gold?

[edit]

Back when I worked on The Maneater in the 1990s, there seemed to be a bit of confusion about the founder's name. At The Maneater's 40th anniversary, he made a crack about how every five years a Maneater reporter would call and ask for "Joe Gold"; as a professor at the University of Kansas, he identified himself as "Joel Gold".

There were a couple years after that when we printed his name as Joel Gold. However, I also remember a framed photo of the very first Maneater issue hanging in the office where his byline was printed as Joe Gold. Does anyone have any definitive information on this? --C-squared 01:49, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Improving this article

[edit]
  • On the Controversies section: Is this notable? In its over 50-year history, The Maneater faced off with university administrators, the police, and state government. Why are we showcasing small potatoes? I mean, an MSA VP and pinkisthenewblog.com?
  • There should be a section of notable alumni in this article.
  • We should include images, including The Maneater nameplate.
