[edit]

I own two of Tracie Spencer's albums, 'Make the Difference', and her 1999 outing 'Tracie' and on both albums I have never heard Tracie singing in the Whistle note. I have also heard several songs from her debut album and still haven't heard her singing in the whistle register. If anyone has information on the songs Tracie uses this ability then that person can put her back on the list. kudeh, May 8, 2006

Year of birth

[edit]

I notice that someone keeps changing her year of birth from 1976 to 1978. I don't know what their source is, but IMDb clearly states she was born in 1976 and they're a pretty reliable source to find someone's age. Jjmcspooh 22:53, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It would appear that Gardeniagurl has made it her mission to change the year of birth. She claims both to be and to do publicity for Tracie Spencer (doesn't that mean she shouldn't be editing this Wikticle ~ conflict of interest?), but changes only the birthdate, without any of the dates dependent on it ~ how old Miss Spencer was at the time of her first album, for example. I have no evidence of her age, other than the two sources given; if they seem disputed, maybe the birthdate should come out altogether? Cheers, Lindsay 10:52, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
IMDB's content is submitted by users. It's not a reliable source; we really shouldn't be using it at all.
As for conflict of interest, WP:BLP clearly says "While Wikipedia discourages people from writing new articles about themselves or expanding existing ones significantly, subjects of articles remain welcome to remove unsourced or poorly sourced material." Ken Arromdee 04:04, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There were two sources provided for the 1976 birth date, but neither were reliable. Given that the date is contested, prudence dictates deletion of this material until reliable sources are found. FNMF 16:37, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
User:Gardeniagurl has added back the 1978 birth year again. While i am not concerned, i know nothing of this singer other than what i have read here, i do note that every source i have looked at ([[1]], or [[2]], [[3]], [[4]], [[5]], or even [[6]]) shows or implies a 1976 birthdate. This being the case, i'm going to remove the entire reference; if anyone objects, i'm sorry, & please let me know. Cheers, Lindsay 17:56, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
My bad, it was User:LAUGH90, not Gardeniagurl. My apologies. Nevertheless, i'm changing it back. Cheers, Lindsay 18:00, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Multi-Cultural

[edit]

Without trying to be a jerk, i have reverted the edit by User:Gardeniagurl which described Spencer as "multi-cultural" for two, probably linked, reasons. She is not shown in the text to be of many cultures, but fully American (different descents, certainly), and the phrase was red-linked, which, to me, indicates it's a poor choice of describing what is meant. Cheers, Lindsay 12:40, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I don't think it's important or appropriate to mention her race in the very first paragraph. I can't think of any other articles that do it. A couple of lines mentioning her ethnic origin in the 'biography' section would probably suffice. --Kurt Shaped Box 19:41, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tracie Spencer's birthdate

[edit]

Tracie Spencer was born in 1976 - for some reason, it's listed as 1978 on this page. I've changed it to the correct date now. :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by EmeraldCrystals (talkcontribs) 01:59, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

User:Gardeniagurl, who has stated that she is something to do with Spencer in an official capacity has stated that the 1976 birthdate is incorrect. I did direct her to Wikipedia:Contact us/Article problem/Factual error (from subject) some time ago in an attempt to get this sorted out, but I don't know if she ever did so... --Kurt Shaped Box (talk) 14:30, 19 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I know I'm late to this conversation but I thought I would add the following:

Contradiction

[edit]

A template highlighting a contradiction was placed earlier today; i assume that it refers to the variable number of siblings Spencer is credited with ~ does she have three sibs, or is she the middle of three? Happy days, LindsayHello 18:08, 18 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Went with the three names – Marvin Jr., Marty and Tricia – and cut the middle child of three statement, while adding a "Citation needed" request. Jmg38 (talk) 07:40, 3 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
