Channel transfers

[edit]

I'm not a railway buff but as seperate carriages are used in UK and continental Europe I presume that passages are conveyed by coach on Eurotunnel or by train from Ashford on Eurostar. A cursory reading of the article would suggest that the OE travels through the tunnel. 89.240.15.49 09:30, 1 June 2007 (UTC) Yes to coach.[reply]

Simplon?

[edit]

We could also do with a mention of why the line is named Venice-Simplon. Presumably the Simplon part comes from the Simplon pass. -- Solipsist 08:26, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Length of journey?

[edit]

How about someone adds in information about how long a complete one way trip takes on this service? The only reason I came to this page was being curious about that, and I didn't find that info here. Xmoogle (talk) 19:06, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you look at their website, there are actually quite a few different trips you can take. It's not one route. Uporządnicki (talk) 12:51, 6 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Funky timeline

[edit]

The Agatha Christie novel "Murder on the Orient Express" was written in the 1930s and takes place on the Simplon-OE, how is it possible for this to be true and for the train of this article to have been started in the early 1980s by an American? Is there something missing? Manys (talk) 00:55, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hyphens?

[edit]

According to the company website, the name is styled "Venice Simplon-Orient-Express" (as reflected in the WP article's lede). Any reason the article title is hyphenated differently? --Lemuellio (talk) 18:38, 23 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
