Proposed Deletion

[edit]

This page was proposed for deletion for non-compliance with WP:NACTOR. Why? It would appear as though Yasmin Finney readily meets the basic notability criteria.Wilburg22 - The insufferable potato! (Click here for my talk page!) 00:00, 30 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

WP:NACTOR: "Has had significant roles in multiple notable films, television shows, stage performances, or other productions". Can we say that she has had multiple important roles in other series or films? Bradford (Talk)  00:04, 30 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No, At current she had a main role in only one hit TV-Series as the other role she was set to star in that would've made her previously comply was cancelled due to covid-travel restrictions during filming. However, if basic notability guidelines are met by an individual, they do not necessarily need to meet the additional specific criteria laid out in the specific notability categories such as WP:NACTOR as long as the person in question is not part of an exclusion category (Which Yasmin Finney does not appear to be). I would question the use of WP:NACTOR to suggest deletion itself, rather then contest whether or not the page complies with WP:NACTOR. Wilburg22 - The insufferable potato! Is a big role in Doctor Who enough now for this page to stay?

Actress

This person is a transexual. Should this not be there? Also women who work in the theatre are usually called "actors" on wiki. Why is a person who is not a woman called an "actress"? Rustygecko (talk) 03:58, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Her biography shows her as a transgendered individual and identifies as female, and as such uses terms such as “actress”. This matches other female actresses on en.wiki. See MOS:GENDERID.--☾Loriendrew☽ (ring-ring) 13:24, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Also, as a point of information: 'transgender' and 'transsexual' are not necessarily the same; see https://www.topsurgery.ca/blog/transvestite-transsexual-transgender-whats-difference 107.190.23.116 (talk) 09:29, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There's no point in shouting at somebody over a foolish comment made almost two years ago and who hasn't even edited Wikipedia for several months. Anyway this whole thread is pointless so I'm rolling it up. --DanielRigal (talk) 11:34, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dates of birth require reliable sourcing, not what appears on a google search, from an editable location (such as IMDb) or in a blog–type posting.--☾Loriendrew☽ (ring-ring) 13:26, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Her school

[edit]

Pinging Starklinson and DylanMillerNerd1, who both added ([1], [2]) that Yasmin attended Ashton-on-Mersey School (and also added her to that page as an alumna). I reverted in both places, because there was no source provided and I can't find any indication that she has any connection to this school. It seems to me like it came out of thin air, unless I'm missing something. Do either of you have a source to back this up? Aerin17 (tc) 22:47, 15 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I currently work at the school, and a colleague of mine remembers when she attended DylanMillerNerd1 (talk) 17:24, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, reliable sourcing is required for inclusion in BLP articles.--☾Loriendrew☽ (ring-ring) 17:35, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
