This entire article is based on a single source, the sensationalist journalism of John Bradley. Contrary to Bradley's claims, Al-Sweidy is an ordinary middle to lower-middle class neighborhood. It is not a "slum," and its streets are as wide as any other neighborhood in Riyadh. It is definitely NOT considered a "no go" for police. That is simply ludicrous. In 2004, some terrorists were found in Al-Sweidy, but such people were identified in many other parts of Riyadh, including many affluent areas. -- Slacker (talk) 13:24, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Slacker! If Al-Suwaidi is, in fact, a middle class neighborhood, then are there sources describing it as such?
  • As per WP:V Verifiability, and not truth, is the criterion for inclusion. So if the only sources (in any language) explicitly describe the community in the way Bradley does, then that is how Wikipedia's going to describe it.
  • John R. Bradley's book is published by Palgrave Macmillan, a reliable publisher, so it is a reliable source.
  • The Arab News also did a feature on Al-Suwaidi... I'll take a look at the article...

This is an article about one of 130 or so districts of Riyadh. The only reason this article exists are the news of As-Suwaidi being a terrorist stronghold in 2003/2005. This seems rather stale now. It would make more sense to approach the divisions of Riyadh systematically, i.e. creating articles on its 15 municipalities. "As-Suwaidi" would become a section of the page on the Al-Urayja branch municipality. The content on its being a "slum" or terrorism stronghold can still be featured there, of course, but within WP:DUE. --dab (𒁳) 10:58, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
