[edit]

Is/was this person ever commonly referred to as "Al Miller II"? Or was he just "Al Miller" and he's just identified as "Al Miller II" in some stats sources (e.g. indy500.tjs-labs.com) to distinguish him from the other Al Miller (Al Miller (racing driver born 1907))? Racing-Reference suggests his name was just "Al Miller". If he is/was not commonly referred to as "Al Miller II", then I propose this article be renamed to Al Miller (racing driver born 1921). • I've never seen it as Al Miller II. I've seen it as Al Miller (Krulac) in some books. I think that's maybe the way to go...or use Al Miller (racing driver born 1921). I think the I/II thing started with the Howdy Wilcox's and the Jacques Villeneuve's. It was never part of their official name, but in an effort to differentiate them, they came out with that distinction. Sometimes people would start using that year after. That's a contrast to say, Al Unser, Sr. & Al Unser, Jr. Obviously Big Al's given name wasn't "Sr." but he adopted that name, and seemed to embrace it when Little Al started racing, and he never seemed to shy away from using it...so much so that it basically became his name. Or....unlike Dale Earnhardt the father...who when he was still alive, did not like the name "Dale Earnhardt, Sr." and refused to let people call him that....opps, I'm off on a tangent. Al Miller IIAl Miller (racing driver born 1921) – Per the discussion above, I believe his name wasn't actually "Al Miller II"; he was just identified as "Al Miller II" in some stats sources (e.g. indy500.tjs-labs.com) to distinguish him from the other Al Miller (Al Miller (racing driver born 1907)). Or I'm happy for the article to be renamed Al Miller (Krulac) if there's more support for that option. Note that I would also propose removing the "II" from existing links to the article, i.e. so an existing link of [[Al Miller II]] would be changed to [[<new article title>|Al Miller]]. Of course. I should have thought of that. Thanks. DH85868993 (talk) 22:10, 1 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
