Alternative Approaches Section

[edit]

I propose transplanting "biogerontology" from this section to somewhere else. Biogerontology means the same as "biomedical gerontology", which means the same thing as "life extension science". Biogerontology is the name for the scientific approach to aging / senescence -- it's not so much an "alternative approach" as it is THE approach of science to aging and the intervention / prevention of the onset of senescence. The simplest fix I can see to correct this would be to remove the world "Alternative" from the section title altogether as neither approaches seem to be alternative to anything stated earlier in the article in the first place. Redirect

[edit]

This topic is already covered in the article on Life extension. I propose redirecting to this established article. Discuss here. Tim Vickers (talk) 19:58, 5 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is not covered and cannot be as the subject of this article is a social movement, not a medical technique. Fred Talk 19:19, 6 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I second the proposal to merge this article with life extension. Also, I disagree with the beginning of the article where it says that the most prominent people in the movement are Ray Kurtzweil and Aubrey de Grey. They're significant contributors / leaders in life extension and biogerontology, but there are too many other significant contributors such as Cynthia Kenyon, Gary Rufkin, David Sinclair, Arthur D. Levinson, and David Bolstein. I'm going to go ahead and tweak it, anyone can feel free to re-edit it, but I wouldn't just say that the two main players are "Aubrey de Grey and Ray Kurtzweil" --Devin 12:33 PM CST 4/6/2014

Article was overwhelming condemnatory of anti-aging movement, edited to take a more neutral view

[edit]

I am fixing this article to make it have more neutral language, I am also expanding it as I think it is an extremely important topic. Decadeologee (talk) 09:33, 26 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This article lacks citations for references to criticism of the movement. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.39.172.53 (talk) 16:03, 3 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

The Russian Wikipedia has an article about immortalism. The troublesome new interlingual linking system won't let me add it to the Languages column. Let's at least keep it on the talk page. 213.109.230.96 (talk) 17:03, 3 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
