Circumstances of that mention of Art Ditmar (last of 9th, game 7, 1960 WS)

[edit]

I am not now doing new comments or rewrite in THIS Wikipedia article; HOWEVER, there isn't quite enough context to explain that this was not an incorrect naming of the Yankee pitcher in the game at that point.

I also read the text furnished in Wikipedia article about Chuck Thompson, and listened to audio which included that text and some preceding talk. Ralph Terry, Yankee pitcher and holdover from bottom of 8th, is mentioned in comments about the Yankees' defense, in that preceding talk. The batter, Bill Mazeroski, had already taken ball 1 when we get to "Art Ditmar throws", which is in that text and apparently: 1. was intended to refer to the bullpen 2. was interrupted and left incomplete when Mazeroski hit the home run; in the excitement, it was overlooked that this remark appeared to indicate that Art Ditmar was the pitcher in the game. As for this Wikipedia article, I see "incorrectly". Maybe change it to say it APPEARED to incorrectly reference Ditmar, because I pointed out it was interrupted by Mazeroski's HR. Carlm0404 (talk) 04:33, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
