Del Bajio International Airport is located in the City of Silao Guanajuato not in the City of Leon Guanajuato.

When you look at a map it is closer to Silao than León, Guanajuato. But from the look of the same map and our two articles it appears that Leon is the larger city. This happens with several airports that serve one place (and sometimes named for that place) but are actually located closer to another town. I also notice that there appears to be a second runway/airport located closer to Leon here. What's that one called? CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 14:28, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What is it called in English?

[edit]

What is the airport's name in English? How to pronounce Bajío ? Why not to write the English name or equivalent English title if the article is on English Wikipedia? --Shekhar 07:55, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

What does that even mean? Why is Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport named so, why not an English name? Why is Qinhuangdao Beidaihe Airport named so? How about Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International Airport? Some names have translations, but most (especially those outside of international notoriety) do not. I don't know how to pronounce either of those airports, does that mean we should change it? Bajío is the name of the region and its airport, there is no translation... As the first sentence of the article notes, the official name is "Aeropuerto Internacional de Guanajuato," which readily translates to "Guanajuato International Airport." It's a mystery to me why the article is titled "Bajío International Airport," which is at best an informal name. I've lived for 23 years in the city of Guanajuato, and virtually no one here refers to the airport as "Bajío" (pronounced ba-HEE-oh). Nor do most airline search engines call it "Bajío." [1], for example, uses "Guanajuato International Airport." By the way, "Bajío" is a large region of central Mexico, which includes several other states and several major airports, including Guadalajara's. It thus makes little since to refer to the Guanajuato airport here as "Bajío." Doncoulter (talk) 15:16, 20 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
