That isn't a call sign; it's an abbreviation of the brand name. Bearcat (talk) 19:18, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Thenewro.gif

[edit]

Image:Thenewro.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Please note that until a rebranding of A-Channel as "MuchTV" or "CHUM TV" actually happens, it is not necessary (or even appropriate, under WP:CRYSTAL) to discuss it in each individual station's article in addition to discussing it in A-Channel. Please refer to Talk:A-Channel for discussion if you disagree. Bearcat (talk) 20:02, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A-channel News

[edit]
Individual newscasts on local television stations don't really meet our inclusion standards on Wikipedia. However, a larger article on A-Channel News in general, which can include segments on the various local newscasts, is likely to be acceptable. (That's the same reasoning by which this is one article about three different shows rather than three separate articles.) Bearcat (talk) 15:51, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can someonce create one like What BearCat Said

that would be Great so people would know that A-Channel Focous is —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.224.181.154 (talk) 05:46, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A-Channel Ottawa Slogans

[edit]

Can someone please explain why they always haev to revert my edits for A-Channel Slogans

like This is Ottawa's News , Watch A-Channel News at 6, Ottawa's Fastest Growing News Hour

as theese were the Slogans

if people keep Reveritng Means they never watch Chro-tv (99.224.42.232 (talk) 06:25, 3 January 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Is there an online reference I can look at? Jamie Shaw (talk) 08:38, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Try a Google search with quotation marks on each side of the slogan.єmarsee (Discuss) 18:14, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You're attempting to reference the statement to the station's own webpage. It's been explained to you before that references on Wikipedia need to be independent of the article subject. And for the record, we really don't want or need detailed slogan histories to be listed in television station articles — it's pure trivia of the type that really doesn't belong in an encyclopedia article at all. Bearcat (talk) 18:44, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

i have to disagree with you bearcat he or she is right —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.230.61.199 (talk) 21:02, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sigh... It looks now we are resorting to sockpuppetry, eh? єmarsee (Discuss) 21:11, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps, the slogans could be added as a subsection under the history section.Jamie Shaw 08:59, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
The slogans are trivial and unimportant and don't add any value. Why are you so determined to have them in the article? Bearcat (talk) 16:44, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That was just a suggestion. I think it's trivial too.Jamie Shaw 10:18, 5 January 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jamieleshaw (talkcontribs)
I'm just trying to understand why certain people are so insistent that past slogans have to be reflected in the article. There's been a constant revert war going on for weeks now, and still nobody's explained why it needs to be there at all. So far, the only answer I've gotten is that listing the slogans is necessary in order to show the slogans, which is a textbook example of what used to be called begging the question before that phrase's original meaning got garbled. Bearcat (talk) 23:57, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Dongwong, if you want slogans to be included in this article, please discuss with WP:TVS to come up with a consensus whether it should be allowed. єmarsee (Discuss) 00:18, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'd also like to stress that part of the problem here, quite separate from whether slogans are inherently trivial or not, is that some of the slogans in question actually make unsourced marketing claims. In particular, the one about "Ottawa's Fastest Growing News Hour" is, when you get right down to it, a statement that we couldn't actually make in the article itself without a real, independent source of actual ratings data — and yet our friend Dongwong/99.* previously tried on several occasions to assert variations on that very thing without benefit of a real source. When he got called on the lack of a reference, he linked to a CTVglobemedia press release; when he got called on the fact that it wasn't an independent source, he linked to a press release distribution agency's verbatim reprint of the CTVglobemedia press release instead, as if the fact that it wasn't CTVgm's website somehow changed the fact that it was still their press release. So at least to me, including it as a slogan seems like just another attempt to get an improperly referenced marketing assertion into this article through the back door, by dressing it up as a neutral statement of fact. Bearcat (talk) 02:12, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

the reason why i would like to have the slogans included is to show how CHRO-TV News Slogans have envolved over the years since it launched

the only slogans that we should use is when it was the New RO & A-Channel and Now 'A'. I Belive it will benefit the article it make it stand out more. such several other articles have the same thing

(99.224.42.232 (talk) 05:16, 7 January 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Once again, if you believe it will benefit the article, discuss with WP:TVS, they decide what goes into TV station article and what does not. єmarsee (Discuss) 05:32, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

how do i contact them

Here. However, please remember to be civil at all cases. єmarsee (Discuss) 05:49, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

thank you

and what eles would i click on or do on the talk page

(99.224.42.232 (talk) 05:54, 7 January 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Add a new discussion, like what you've done here. єmarsee (Discuss) 05:58, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

CTV Fire

[edit]

There could be a possibility that CTV being at A Ottawa could be permanent basis if the CRTC would allow it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.224.112.64 (talk) 04:54, 9 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

p.s now that CTV is at A-Channel I think it might be cheaper for both of them going Fully HD O&O considering they use A Cameras —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.224.112.64 (talk) 05:13, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

CHRO did NOT use the MCTV ident during the BBS years

[edit]

It is stated that CHRO used an MCTV ident during the years it was under the Baton Broadcast System. This is not correct as can be found on several videos on YouTube of CHRO idents of the time, which show they clearly were allowed to show their own call letters. Some examples:

Article should be upgraded to reflect this.
