Hi, I was just wondering if anyone could expand on which foods contain chloride or are particularly (naturally) rich in chloride --87.194.204.18 08:57, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anything with (ordinary table) salt in it. Atropos235 03:56, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Almost any salt contains chloride ions, even substitute salts such as potassium chloride. --Chemicalinterest (talk) 19:50, 8 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, i was just wondering if anyone knows what chloride look like under standard conditions? thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 101.98.64.178 (talk) 19:17, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

IMHO this article teems with grammatical inexactitude. The ide suffix is used to indicate a chemical compound. A lot of the time "chloride" is used when it should be "chlorine". "Chloride" can be used as a generic reference to a compound that contains chlorine, but there is no such thing as an element with the name of "chloride". "Chloride ion" implies the compound has an ion, when what is intended is a chlorine ion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.59.91.73 (talk) 16:34, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently some common anions add the -ide suffix without that denoting a compound, thus Cl- (chlorine anion) becomes the anion named Chloride. See Ion#Common ions and here [1]https://www.khanacademy.org/science/hs-chemistry/x2613d8165d88df5e:chemical-bonding/x2613d8165d88df5e:ionic-bonds/a/naming-ions-and-ionic-compounds 93.165.254.117 (talk) 11:25, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In diet

[edit]

The article should say something about the role & sources of chloride in human diet. Ben Finn (talk) 11:18, 18 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Chloride is an essential micronutrient with Recommended Dietary Allowance values and such. Unfortunately there is no mention of it on this page, the Chlorine page or the Sodium chloride page. 2601:CD:C480:1BB0:7D28:D223:E51:B32B (talk) 04:04, 23 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
