GA on hold

[edit]

I have assessed this article according to the GA criteria. Here are a few suggestions that need to be fixed before I'll pass the article.

  1. In the lead "Elected an honorary member of the Romanian Academy in 1937 and removed from his seat by Communist authorities (1948),[1] he..." You use "in 1937" and then "(1948)"; to keep it uniform, switch to "by Communist authorities in 1948". Also, the lead can be expanded to better summarize the article (see WP:Lead).
  2. A lot of text is included within parenthesis throughout the article. Consider just including some of it within the sentence or rewriting the statements themselves. For example the first sentence in the second paragraph in the European politics section is over five lines long. This statement should be broken into two statements and reworded. I'd recommend going through the article and removing at least half of these and rewording the statements.
  3. In the European policies section, I'm not sure if fronteers is spelled wrong or not, please fix if necessary.
  4. There are a few statements throughout the article that stand alone. Either incorporate them into another paragraph or expand upon them.
  5. Go through the article and make sure to wikilink full dates (ex: November 26, 1940).
  6. You mention that he died, but how?

Fix the above suggestions within seven days and I'll pass the article. If you have any questions or when you finish, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. --Nehrams2020 00:44, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You have resolved all of the issues listed above except for expanding the lead. Please improve it further and I'll pass the article. I'll give you two days to expand it, and if it's not expanded to at least two full paragraphs, I'll fail the article for now. The article looks very good overall, but just needs a good intro to lead into the article. --Nehrams2020 06:28, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GA passed

[edit]

Good job fixing everything I have suggested, and I have now passed this article as a GA according to the GA criteria. Continue to improve the article and make sure all newly added information is properly sourced. Keep up the good work and consider helping to review an article or two at GAC. We have a massive backlog! --Nehrams2020 17:16, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Automatic addition of "class=GA"

[edit]

A bot has added class=GA to the WikiProject banners on this page, as it's listed as a good article. If you see a mistake, please revert, and leave a note on the bot's talk page. Thanks, BOT Giggabot (talk) 05:47, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GA Reassessment

[edit]
This discussion is transcluded from Talk:Gheorghe Tătărescu/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the reassessment.

This article has been reviewed as part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles/Project quality task force in an effort to ensure all listed Good articles continue to meet the Good article criteria. In reviewing the article, I have found there are some issues that may need to be addressed, listed below. I will check back in seven days. If these issues are addressed, the article will remain listed as a Good article. Otherwise, it may be delisted (such a decision may be challenged through WP:GAR). If improved after it has been delisted, it may be nominated at WP:GAN. Feel free to drop a message on my talk page if you have any questions, and many thanks for all the hard work that has gone into this article thus far.

GA review (see here for criteria):

The article is well written, has good layout, NPOV and generally good references. The only major problem is that most of the links are dead.[1] That's really a deal breaker as far as 2a is concerned. The references could also be formatted better; all books and journal articles should contain author, publisher, year, volume etc. If this is in place, then the links aren't necessarily that important. Also, the Romanian language tag should be placed later in the references, the way it is now it's hard to read. Lampman (talk) 08:02, 13 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've given this article a lot of thought, and I decided it wouldn't be fair to delist it. It is true that a lot of the links have gone dead since the article's creation, but it is not a demand that all sources should be on-line. Since these sources are journal articles, they must be taken in good faith by anyone who doesn't have access to the hard copies. Some of the references could perhaps have been better formatted, with date, volume etc., but this is not enough to delist the article. I've tried to track down as many of the dead links as I could, and removed the rest. I've also reformatted the reference section using various cite-templates. The article will remain a GA. i believe this to be a good article, and have nominated it as such. the article could benefit from having some sections rephrased (awkward clause structure indicates that much of the article may have been written by non-native english speakers) but there are few if any outright grammar errors. the article could also use some more pictures, although in every other technical regard (person infobox, references and inline citations, subsection structure) the article is excellent and well-maintained. --Sapphic 15:51, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
