Notable Alumni

[edit]

Henry David Thoreau is listed as an alumnus of Harvard Divinity School. Can anyone confirm this? I thought he only graduated from the college, and I'm having trouble finding any references to his study at the Divinity School.

I don't know if Thoreau ever attended HDS. But one thing to watch out for is that HDS didn't grant degrees at that time. See, for example, the entries for Jared Sparks, James Walker, and Thomas Hill here: [1]. - Eb.hoop 20:20, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kevin Johnson, former NBA player, attended the Summer Leadership Institute at HDS, this does not make him an alumni. I have removed his name from said list. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.85.237.86 (talk) 18:27, 6 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Protestant ?

[edit]

Is Harvard Divinity School still a predominantly Protestant institution ? There appears to be Protestants of every kind and comparatively few Catholics or Orthodox Christians in the institution. It does however exhibit interest in other non-Christian religions, such as Hinduism, Judaism and Islam. I saw it had recently named a priest as its leader, but it is only a first. Incomplete sentence

[edit]

Quote from article: "(Princeton Theological Seminary, having been founded as a Presbyterian institution in 1812 and Andover Theological Seminary, the oldest graduate school of theology in the United States)"

So, what about them? The sentence seems incomplete. Please fix this if you know what is meant. -- 77.7.174.28 (talk) 11:31, 13 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

taranga source

[edit]

could not find this source anywhere including search of university library: Tarango, Angela PhD. "Unitarians."Trinity University. San Antonio. 16 Feb. 2011. Seems fake. Deleted it and content based on it that I would not find other sources for. At same time removed off topic stuff, like paragraph on Channing and Unitarianism that has nothing to do with HDS per se.
