Updating the #HeForShe article

[edit]

Now that it is 2020, I would like to see how this social movement has progressed and made impact since 2014. I also want to see more of an opposing viewpoint to this movement to see a more well-rounded perspective on this movement. Thanks, Nanaonwiki (talk) 03:34, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

For starters, this doesn't look even remotely similar to a serious encyclopedia entry. It looks like a propaganda poster. Especially the last paragraph of the opening section. And the criticism section too, it only features criticism for not being "woke enough", while critics who claim the movement is a far-leftist radical feminist movement, are completely missing. Knowing the direction Wikipedia has been moving in the last couple years, I won't even try adding it, as it will be reverted instantly, no matter how serious sources I cite. The role of an encyclopedia is to present the things in a neutral and professional way, not to look like an opinion article from a gossip magazine. --2A02:2F07:DE0F:7300:3872:33B:7421:5EFA (talk) 14:50, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It looks neutral enough to me, and if you see that as a far-leftist radical movement, maybe you are more biased than you realize (and I can see why it bothers you). 2A02:A03F:C0B9:7C00:FC31:A1D6:C8DE:BC79 (talk) 14:44, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Gender equality?

[edit]

Sorry, but where can you see that HeForShe have ever made anything for gender equality? They've only made campaigns for women... Is that gender equality? If you want to a member of HeForShe it asks if you a man who is going to stand up for women's rights,[1] which can only mean that you don't stand up for mens rights.. Pyrros (talk) 17:49, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Read their programme: "HeForShe is an invitation for men and people of all genders to stand in solidarity with women to create a bold, visible and united force for gender equality. The men of HeForShe aren't on the sidelines. They're working with women and with each other to build businesses, raise families, and give back to their communities." (https://www.heforshe.org/en).
It's not campaigns for women, as you can see in interviews or on their websites: many men are involved. It's the very idea of the movement. If you haven't noticed, the problem of gender equality is mostly experienced by women, which is why we have to stand up for their rights, but it's also for transgender and gays. It's also simply for men who feel they have to uphold some sort of masculine standard (also seen in interviews and articles). 2A02:A03F:C0B9:7C00:FC31:A1D6:C8DE:BC79 (talk) 14:24, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Just what is the HeForShe program anyway?

[edit]

The problem with this site is that it does not even outline the specifics of what is expected from Men who join HeForShe. The article is too broad and vague. The public perception - just as the title "HeForShe" implies - is that men are reduced to being "utilities" or beasts of burden for women, a position worse than total slavery (slaves have to be fed by their owner at least), where men might have to wire-transfer their entire savings and assets to particular women or women's causes. If that is not the case, then some clarification of the program is sorely needed. Until it is provided, I am afraid this perception will continue as such. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TonyMath (talkcontribs) 04:48, 1 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Mr. Tony math, The main goal otf this solidarity campaign for the advancement of women is to take action against the inequalities faced by the women and girls , wherein not only women are involved but even the men also show active involvement with equal enthusiasm . The opponents would say" it is in the culture and nothing can be done about it. " but you should say without hesitation "empowering women is our obligation and we have to eradicate the elements endangering them right away! ". It is not necessary that one has to only participate by transferring their " entire savings or assets" to particular women or for a women's cause, but leaving that aside....more importantly carrying out small campaigns , how The very evil of the society affects our globe socially, economically and politically!. Another way of spreading feminist ideals or in that case helping women get their rights can be achieved in a small way by organising meetings by uniting with all your fellow mates and making the people in your locality aware about this . Moreover , if you are more intrested and willing you can even enlighten and empower the students, about this great cause , in small schools and colleges if not the big ones. Instead of asking the authorities what a man willing to participate in " HeForShe" could do , don't you think giving suggestions and in that case by first experimenting your ideas yourself and the informing the authorities about it ( provided it is effective) would be more kind of you. I have no intentions of hurting or critisizing you or any other man but I firmly believe that if you really find the goals set by "HeForShe" vague , broad and unclear then why not try making it more specific and redefining it yourself. And then spread thisspread message specially among the youth- " The pillars Of Future". Though I must say that i really thank you from the depth of my heart that men like you give me hope that atleast their are men who still choose to see such campaigns setting up. I would say one should use their great capacity to share their innovative and exceptional ideas with the leaders , I.e, if they have one or else research more and more on these issues and then protbably get one! These greate women , t have created"HeForShe" isn't that enough for men like you to carry on with your goals towards empowering more and more women. My dear friend , brain is like an app and it is better if we utilise it more and more . And we need more understanding men like you to make women not someone else's version but their own first versions.. Even if your voice doesn't grab much of anyone's attention it will atleast grab a few of them. It's just the beginning ! And nobody will give you the power to make it happen you will have to snatch it !. Let's tell the beastly opponents that " if you strike a women you strike a Rock"!. Never consider men as slaves . I mean we are discussing about women right? We are already having huge problem in getting back women rights . This is a very large issue . And then you want to start off with" Men-the slaves of feminism". Really?. . Now let's turn words into action . It's a high time now. Regards. Sarah. Sara pawar (talk) 19:25, 27 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I still have utterly no idea what the HeForShe movement is for, or precisely what it does, but I appreciate having my bowels scoured clean by the ragged sunshine rainbow of vagueness you just blasted up my backside, Sara. This article needs some serious work done to it - I haven't been able to learn anything about this movement except for the platitudes, vague idealisms and marketing-speak all over the Internet about this now 2-year old organization. I was really hoping that the wikipedia entry would give me a clear idea of some specific substantive things this organization does and its interactions with the world... but this is less useful than some of the smallest stub-articles I've come across on this site. - Steven. 6:56AM 04 Oct 2016 UTC — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.68.125.92 (talk) 06:57, 4 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I could have hardly said it better than Steven. Indeed the long-winded response by Sara, riddled with typos, incoherent, vague though attitudinizing, actually makes my earlier point: just what is the specific agenda i.e. plan for HeForShe anyway? If Sara's response is the best answer to my simple question, then we would have to conclude that HeForShe has either no concrete feasible plan or simply no plan at all.TonyMath (talk) 11:14, 4 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Grammatical case of »she«

[edit]

I'm not a native speaker but "she" in "he for she" sounds strange in my ears - it seems to be the wrong case. Is this correct English? Or some kind of sociolect?--88.70.178.41 (talk) 08:22, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
